paulrenn
Hey guys I was thinking of replacing the cigarette lighter with boost gauge, has anyone done it, and what size gauge would fit? How easy is it to disassemble the dash to the necessary state to get in there? Which part of the manifold can you tap a vacuum line into? This'd be really handy, as there is obviously power to light the gauge, and I'm a non-smoker
Syed Shah
Most people tend to use the clock hole as it is just the right size. Why not use this instead, especially because the lack of the cigarette lighter, would also mean no power outlet for mobile phones etc.

Terminator
No need to tap into the manifold just pic up off one of the lines.
Justin
Paul, I have recently done this with the help of 'Terminator'. It took me a while to figure out what to do but it is simpler than it seems. A. Get a clock hole gauge (see pic) they are made to fit B. You just need some extra 6mm vacuum hose from a dealer or wherever to connect your boost pressure sensor to the exisitning tubes (see pic) C. You need to find a good place to mount the sensor. I went for a digital gauge coz it lights up red and has maximum value recall. (Red button on pic) However I think the analogue gauges look better if you get one that matches your speedo faces etc.
paulrenn
Hi Justin Good pics, thanks, looks like an exact mirror image of my own (LHD)! I think the ciggy lighter location is a little too small, so clock might be good. Actually I think I will get an A-pillar pod to mount a couple of accessories, and leave the dash intact. Isn't there a spare connector on the manifold for connecting vacuum operated accessories? There was on my Celica, but I guess not all are like that... Mark Ayling
Paul, If you do take my indiglo gauges, then the Apexi boost gauge (that I have) matches them very nicely.... Cheers, Mark.
