Does fuel consumption increase in cold weather?

It's been a lot cooler for the last couple of weeks and, aside from one journey, I appear to be using a tad more fuel even though I'm driving more gently.

Does having the heater, demister and light on in the morning contribute to fuel consumption?

You would think it would be offset by the aircon in summer

Which I never used!

are you driving with a heavier foot? now the air is nice and cold

Did you even read my post?

if i remember from school the colder the temperature the more oxygen atoms you will have in a contained area which means it will use more fuel to balance the mixture.

dito, hence why most turbo charged cars feel noticably quicker in damp colder weather conditionns.
