i will if i park next to sacks of poos, the drivers wouldent care about there own car so why care about mine?

And what exactly are you going to do about it then?? Why not just keep away from other cars? It's amazing watching people and especially kids getting out of cars, they just fling the door open without a care in the world!!:(

1) report them to the police

OR

2) its a very small town, i could find them

also theres not much chance of "keeping away from other cars" in a bloody CARPARK!

Woo! Not the Police....

At the end of the day I don't park my car where I think it will get damaged. If that means parking it half a mile up the road and walking back, then so be it!! If I found a dent in my door that some gobshite had obviously just done then it would drive me mental.....:(

Not worth putting myself in that position me thinks!!

You can park on the other side of the car park, where there are no cars, and when you come back theres at least one parked next to it:)

True!! I parked the Supe at Asda recently in a part of the car park that was furthest away from the store. There were no other cars within 100 yards.....:) Came out and two other cars had used that part of the car park and had parked either side of the Supe....!!:( They had 400 other spaces to choose from, so why park there.....

First thing i did was ckeck the lines of the car for dents! i must have looked really anal!:D

I do the license plate thing if I'm forced to park next to any cars that look suspect. Things like Door edges damaged are usually a good sign (or a bad sign depending on your perspective). My course of action would be pursue insurance claim for driving away (police should be interested as well but as H says - seem to be bloody hopeless round here).

I suppose for fuller security you should take photos of your own car, then the car next to you, and

if any damage then photos of your car - unmoved.

Completely pointless.

Unless you are standing watching your car all the time, once the car next to you left another half dozen cars could have arrived and left - and any one of those could have been the one to ding your car.

You would have absolutely zero chance of proving to the police, insurance company or courts that the car you parked next to was the one that dinged your car.
