djskeme
Hi guys I run a car pc and wanted to connect up the serial port to read all the obdII information from the ECU. Can anyone tell me where to find the connection for the cable, and also where the best cheapest place to get the cable from is. Thanks in advance. carl0s
The Supra is ODB 1 I'm afraid. Didn't they go OBD II around '97, or was that just in the USA?

carl0s
mine 98 says OBD II on it...... Lucky bugger I've yet to check mine. I always wished my UK car was OBD-II so I could play around with computery things, and now I have a facelift car, but it's a late-'96 non-VVTi, so I suspect it's just going to be OBD-I again
SimonB
I think it's a weird variation on ODBII though that can't be read by the normal readers.
grahamc
get a LINK ECU and you plug straight into that
carl0s
can that be connected to a pc too? No. There was no set standard, or something. OBD-I isn't an interoperable standard, or something. Short answer anyway, No.

Chris Wilson
Finding even a commercial OBD-II reader thast works on the VVTis is hard work, took me ages and I used up all my Brownie points with friends to find one that works properly! Tricky-Ricky
Its more a case of software, someone must have done it, there are a few bits of software for the Nissan's that use OBD1 and AFAIK the interface is fairly easy, but its obviously not common or the fuelling and timing maps would be more accessible. djskeme
sorry to bring this post up again....I found some things on ebay which convert the obd1 connection to odb2 and therefore will connect up and read into programs...although wont read as much as far as I can see. Anyone think in theory this will work?
