jackso11
I have just been told by a tyre dealer that Nexen tyres are just the same quality as Falken tyres. Anyone know if this is true? I normally trust Falkens however he is offering me a pair of these £40 cheaper...

Never heard of them, that and the fact that they are significantly cheaper than the already cheap Falkens, should tell you something. jackso11
Yeah, but the reviews I have ready of them seem to indicate that they are extreamly good for the price. Also I have read in a lot of places that Falkens are over priced. Asian tyre companies are always cheap....there must be some good ones....right? Thorin
Yeah, but the reviews I have ready of them seem to indicate that they are extreamly good for the price. I'm sure you could buy some part worn cheapo remoulds for less.... but is it really worth risking it? The tyres are the only part of the car in contact with the road. Also I have read in a lot of places that Falkens are over priced. Rubbish, IMO they're a better tyre than the Goodyear Eagle F1's... and they're cheaper than those so not overpriced in the slightest. jackso11
Just found this, might be useful for some of you:- Max dry performance - expect maybe 15k miles: Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R Falken Azenis Rt615 Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212 Kumho ECSTA MX Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 Great wet and dry performance - expect 15-25k miles: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 Continental ContiSportContact 3 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Good wet and dry performance - expect 20-30k miles: BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 Bridgestone Potenza RE750 Fuzion ZRi Kumho ECSTA SPT Falken FK 452 any of these are better than the nexen crap. So now I think I will stick with my Falkens
jackso11
Just had a call from a tyre dealer 'I can't get you the Falkens, but I can get you a tyre that is better....Nexen 3000'
michael
I had some Nexxen tyres on a set of 17's I picked up for track use, they weren't very good in the wet, had a tendency to spin up in a straight line when accelerating, I was usually too scared to try them on corners unless it was dry. Dry weather performance was fine, similar to the FK451's I had on another set of wheels at the time. On track (airfield) they were great, lasted much longer than other tyres... which is usually a bad sign for road performance I wouldn't. jackso11
I think I will go for Falken FK452's. They seem like a good bet.
JustGav
Had some on the back of the shed for a while... they certainly aren't anything to write home about, found them very lacking in the grip dept in comparison to something such as F1's. They are good fun however if you are mucking about with them.
RedM
I found that the N3000 from Nexen was very good on the front. In fact I have to say I preferred it to the Eagle F1. Only ever had the N2000 on the rear though and wouldn't go near them again. A good mid-price tyre but I got into that whole 'don't scrimp on tyres' thing and now would feel unsure of buying them again.
Branners
I have NEXENs on the back of the MR2 and they are a pretty reasonable tyre for the price. Certainly not a performance tyre but for day to day and some fast driving they are good. I would have to say even with the NEXENs on the MR2 it handles as good if not better than the supra through the roundabouts of Milton Keynes so not too bad really. RICHARDA
Strangely I do, I'm an MOT tester there but still get to witness some of the fitters work.
