Heater Matrix Leak

Hi.

My sons girlfriend has water leaking from the heater into the car and they, or me havnt got the time or the money right now to get it sorted. This is obviously causing an overheat problem and needs constantly topping up.

My question is could I just bypass the heater with a suitable hose and do without heat for now, will this cause a problem else where? it looks an easy enough job but I dont wont to cause other problems.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

May help if you say what car. I think a few on here have done it with old runarounds

Could be worth a try. Could prob get another car for the cost the repair. Or go to the scrappy and pull one apart and see if its easy.

Will be fine to bypass, just join the matrix inlet to the outlet, then freeze:p

What a plop time of the year to have no heat.

you can get a 12V heater for the cig lighter from halfords or e bay, better than no heat at all

i have only tried this once on 1 car before try putting some radi weld in worked for me and heard it work on other cars too

Thanks for all your answers, Ive gone ahead and everything seems ok for her. I was just a bit worrid I may cause another problem somewhere else, at least it will give time to get to a scrappy.
