My mate had a dog run infront of his s14 silvia and did very similar damge. Its all fixed now. Hopefully you'll get a good price and you can look for another:)
Snooze
For a stock SZ, don't be surprised if the first offer comes back as low as 2 or 3k. Sky should be pretty good at reaching an reasonable agreement, though - start having a look at similar cars on Autotrader and Pistonheads and see if you can't find a few similar examples to yours at higher prices. sw4mpthing
So I dont have to take the first offer they give me? And can I buy it back?
hoff
Never take the 1st offer. My celica was worth over 2k and was offered 1.4k. I told them where to go a couple of times, emailed them similar examples from autotrader etc (dealers only) and got the correct amount. Obviously takes a bit longer but worth it. sw4mpthing
ok thanks. I didnt kinow I could do that. The coachworks that was to do the repair quoted the insrance co. £3700. Think I could just buy it back and repair it with second hand parts? Any Idea much they sell it back for? this is a nightmare !

That's what I hate about insurance companies, why don't they give the right amount the first time around? When I renew my insurance and they tell me it's going to cost £700, I'm not going to say 'I'll give you £400...'

I would get a few quotes together yourself, and submit them to the insurance and see if they will change their mind. I would be expecting at the very very most to pay around £1800 for the repair and that is with new parts.
sw4mpthing
Would I just take pictures and take them to bodyshops and ask for a quote for repair?
Havard
That's what I hate about insurance companies, why don't they give the right amount the first time around? When I renew my insurance and they tell me it's going to cost £700, I'm not going to say 'I'll give you £400...' They try it on first time around as most people are desperate for the cash etc and will accept a low price. Others seem to think that this is a first and final offer... If you do that on your renewal Marco, don't be surprised if they only cover you for 7 of the 12 month policy... Rule of thumb.....all insurance companies are crunts!! H. jim_supra
Would I just take pictures and take them to bodyshops and ask for a quote for repair? I would say take alot of pictures if the car cannot be driven, or if they are local see if they will come out to you.
Guest Jaz
Hi You want to speak with QSD who specialise in Jap Performance Salvage & Spares - they are brilliant. (I don't work for them!! I have bought stuff for my car and was really impressed; recommended through a mate). Their number is 01327 263228 - tell them what you need and see how much you can get the bodywork bits for - and then pay a good garage to spray them etc - you will be surprised how much you can save. Try and get a cheque for your motor and buy it back

Havard
Have you also worked into your figures what the car will be worth when you come to sell it?? It will be a Cat D write off after all..!! H.
lexsum
Have you also worked into your figures what the car will be worth when you come to sell it?? It will be a Cat D write off after all..!! H. that's right only buy back if you intend keeping it long term as otherwise you will not get your money back once the write off history is flagged up. also remember your premiums are going to go up which might price you out the supra market. sorry. insurance is about making money off you and me and they give low low values as many people take them with no questions and the insurance company makes even more money. if you refuse to settle it can end in court but no one wants that so they will come and go quite a bit. best of luck. slow_matt
When it comes to a settlement figure and if it's below what you paid for it, get proof of what you paid for it as that is the market price as it's a recent purchase. Should help if you do decide to go this route.
sw4mpthing
thanks. I had a good look at it tonight got the bonet open it was just the cable that was the problem. The landing panel is fine. The side wings need straightend or pushed in, it needs a bumper I have a vielside bumper lying in my garage already sprayed and I need 2 new headlights. theres really nothing wrong with it. when I get the bumper put on they can straighten my wings and I'll buy lights.
