Guest scottw74
Hey all. Looking to get a Supra in about a month or so, so thought I'd join up and have a look around. Been running around in a Hyundai Coupe for a bit to get my NCB up, but once my house sale goes through at the end of the month, its new car time. Always loved the Supra's, so its now or never. Seen a lot of auto's for sale. What are they like? Or is it best to hold out for a manual box? Just wondered what peoples oppinions were.
fri3ndly
20 views and no comments? Well, being biased....I would say get an auto....theyre easy, quicker off the mark, cheaper and you never 'fluff' the gear change Oh, and the autobox is absolutely bulletproof so Iv been told
RobSheffield
Oh, and the autobox is absolutely bulletproof so Iv been told Up to a point Welcome fella, try one of each before you buy
Guest scottw74
Cheers. Looked at an auto today, but it was NA. Dunno if it would annoy me not havingthe full turbo version. There again, it was up for £4k and he offered me £2.5k trade in on mine.....tempting.
Snooze
If you can afford to insure and run it (and you trust your self-control moving to a high power RWD just as the wet weather's coming) definitely stretch to a TT.
Thorin
Oh, and the autobox is absolutely bulletproof so Iv been told Well I don't know who told you that but it's a new one on me. I've certainly heard, and indeed would describe it as such myself, the 6 speed box called bulletproof. Absolutely nothing wrong with the autobox though, it's fantastic and much better than most, but if you had plans of converting to single turbo then don't plan on it lasting long. On an NA or BPU'd TT though there's no issue.
Marco
Definatly try out a manual before buying a supra if you're in doubt.
Cadburys Purple
Definitely try both. Everyone has there own preferences. Personally I don't like the auto and so I went for a manual but as I said everyone is different!
hoff
But I like the auto a lot. I didn't want one really but did in the end. I was very impressed, its a very clever box. I'll look for a link for you.... Edit; Heres the link which explains the autobox http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=86128&highlight=auto+modes Lets just say its not like an old fiester autobox. Guest scottw74
Had auto's before, so that part doesn't really bother me. Its just if I should go for a NA or TT. Suppose I'l have a look whats around in a couple of weeks when I got the cash burning hole in my pocket. Looked at a black one in town today. M reg, NA manual. Looks the muts nuts in black. Seriously considering putting a deposit on to hold it.

hogmaw
Get a TT or you will regret it in a few months when you get used to the lack of power in an n/a
AlexJames
shh, dont say that... I need the money SZ's are great!
Thorin
What's your budget? Get some quotes but you'll probably find little, if any, difference between quotes for NA or TT. UK Spec cars will be cheaper insurance, but rather rare.
Supradan
If you are going for an sz i would try and get a manual as its a better drive and easier to get the most out of the na engine. If its a tt they are both superb,it will just be down to personal choice.
Elliot
I've got a TT for sale, for £4,995 & live in Gosport (in Hampshire also) if you want to check out the difference in performance to an NA! Check my sig for details...
Guest scottw74
Have looked at your car Elliot. And if its still there when this house sale has gone through (surveyor was out this morning) then I'll definitely be down to see you. Hopefully have the money in a week or 2. I know the people want to be in at the end of the month, so fingers crossed that yours is still around.
