Digsy
I get a "whistling" noise through the heater vents when I'm accelerating on my NA. Other people have reported it on here too. I don't think anyone has ever found the source.
AJI
where is the noise coming from? the cockpit? the engine bay? the wheel area? etc.
Guest Ponty Boy
Its coming from the engine bay, more of a putt putt putt type of noise. Speaking to a gut in work, he said it could be to do with the exhaust or one of the manifolds? Could it be this? Where do I look and tell? Soonto_HAS_soop
Could be an exhaust blow?
Guest Ponty Boy
How can I check this or is it best popping to Kwik fit to run their eye over it?
The Hornet
I've noticed a similar noise, think it's related to the aircon unit / heater system somehow. Grant
Nic
To check if the exhaust is leaking, start car and then hold a wet rag against the end of the tail pipe to stop the exhaust gasses from coming out. You should hear the gasses escaping if it is leaking and the engine should continue to tick over, if the engine stalls then there is no leak. I was thinking that as well, I suppose you could wrap a wet towel round your head and stick it in. A bit like Arnie in Total Recall.
