I was listening to the wireless this evening and the news bulletin reported a world shortage on the steel (for the cords) and rubber used in tyre manufacture because of the pace of the rapidly expanding Chinese markets. Seems like they are outstriping supply on these materials.

 

They reported that tyre manufacturers may be increasing the cost of tyres by up to 20% in the new year!
