eyefi
ive got a strange problem with my central locking. when i lock the car with the alarm keyfob, the central locking doesnt lock the passenger door, it trys, as in the little lock latch on the handle moves a little, but it doesnt lock it. now if it was just that, i could understand it, but if i lock the drivers side door with the key, the central locking locks both doors fine. how could this happen? the passenger door can also be locked manually from inside. i havent been fiddling with anything on the car, nor has anything been added or taken away recently (xcpt brakes). if u can help with this problem but u feel the advice may have security implications please feel free to email me. thanks in advance
Terminator
This sounds like a problem with the alarm not sending a long enough pulse to the lock servo on the passenger door or receiving a premature operation complete signal IMO. Matt H probably will be able to help.
Matt Harwood
Nigel, I'm fairly sure it'll be one of two things. Firstly, can you sit inside the car and operate the central locking a few times from the switch on the drivers door. (push lock, then unlock, leave it about 30 sec's and do it again. repeat five or six times) - Always unlocking without fault? If it does unlock faultlessly, you need to check some of the alarm connections. The central locking on the Supra is a negative trigger type. The alarm will have a couple of wires, probably joined together and probably on a ring terminal screwed onto the bodywork somewhere. It is possible that either the ring terminal has worked loose or one of the wires is not making a very good contact. What alarm do you have? - I may be able to tell you what colours to be looking for.
Terminator
How did I do Matt, points out of 10?
eyefi
the passenger side lock has stopped working now (can still b used manually). sitting in the car using the lock button locks and releases it occasionaly, same with the key in the drivers door. sounds like the CL solonoid is sticking or faulty??? is it located in the door? i still havent fiddled with anything. thanks for the helpfull suggestions so far guys.. Matt Harwood
I had a feeling that it would be the cars solenoid. We get that problem a few times and it's rearly the alarm, (unless we've forgotten to extend the locking pulse on VW, Audi, Merc's etc. - On the right track Phil:thumbs: I would give you 8 out of 10 but you lost a couple of points for blaming the alarm ). The solenoid will be located in the door. I've never looked at a Toyota solenoid before but usually, solenoids are not serviceable items - You're probably going to need to replace it:(

Matt Harwood
Easy, loads of screws along the bottom edge, poppers and covered screw's on either side/edge,( the poppers are the type that need the centres pushed in lightly before withdrawing the complete popper), a screw under a cap in the armrest/door handle and a hidden screw behind the release handle cover (which unclips). Then lift out slightly, lift the panel up and with your third hand, unplug the wiring:rolleyes: Don't know where the motor is positioned but I'm sure it'll be easy to find.
