Yep, Carmageddon and Quake II co-op (those were the days, pre console assrape of gaming) sold about 5 of us the orchid righteous 3dfx card :D

Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end :)

Haven't looked at a Quake game since the Quake III Arena travesty.

Orchid Righteous, that was it! :D

I hated Q3 Arena too and the only ID software game I've played since was a brief stint on Doom3... that annoyed me for being far too dark, and you had to run around with the torch constantly.

That and you'd:

1. walk into room

2. see critter in front of you

3. turn round

4. shoot two critters that magically appeared behind you in order to "surprise" you. Again.

5. turn back around

6. shoot original critter

7. exit room

8. goto 1.

What a let down that game was.

3dFX! Ahh the memories. Always fancied one of the Obsidian versions myself.

Funny fact: Virgin Megastore in Brighton were still charging £249 for them when they had dropped to about £50.

I told a guy who was queueing to buy one that he could save himself £200 buying walking to Electronics Boutique. He thanked me and left the box on the counter.

Oddly, a few minutes later I was asked to leave by two security gaurds!

In a reverse to that, I got one for £50 when they were still selling for £250! Out the back of Watford Electronics build room, wrapped in a copy of the Sunday Sport. Mmm, Lyndsey Dawn Mackenzie never looked better.

I had a Voodoo2 which you could SLI if you were minted back then! :D

I stopped playing Quake when Q3A came out, gave it ago for about 6 months but couldnt seem to play it as well as the previous ones. Plus they ruined the railgun which was my weapon of choice in Q2 - I will never forgive ID for that screw up :)

LOL Ian, my brother and I held a lan party in their offices in Watford many moons ago, probably back in 1998?

I haven't really been into Quake much in the past, but I've bought this today, and I really like it :) - I haven't gone online yet to get pwned and called a n00b by some 12 year old in the states, but I will in a bit... It reminds me a bit of SOCOM 2 on the PS2, but more arcadey (*sp) - More action orientated but still with a bit of strategy, but you still get rewarded for thinking sod them (The rest of your team), and going for it on your own :D
