Dash Rendar
But David's car is not a VVTI...?
supra steveo
well i dont think mine is limited to 112 mph coz ive had it on the autobahn at about 130-140 but after 110 mph the car stuggled to get there, does any one think that its restricted in any way? or if there is any thing i can do about it BTW its an N/A but i would of thought they can go a little faster than that
slow_matt
Don't worry I don't have a digital foot! Just more of a gearbox/engine safety thing that I don't want it kicking down when third gear would be too low and destroying the car/me/anyone. But still glad to know that I've not got an issue in the sense that mine is done for! Cheers David (and Matt), it does indeed sound like you're both afflicted with the known auto VVTi problem of the ECU not being programmed to change gears over 112mph. That's the reason why it won't change up to 4th at WOT but does if you lift off slightly. As for not going over 140, is this still at WOT? I managed to get mine up to 165 (indicated) by not keeping my foot flat to the floor. There's more than 2 positions on the throttle pedal you know. DaveSupTT
Hi guys After reading your comments I thought id try out a few of your suggestions so I drove the car up to 130 but I didn't have my foot to the floor and it changed gear perfectly and it also carried on accelorating past what I thought was the 140 limit. So I slowed back down and im happy to say that the car doesn't seem to be limited as long as I don't have my foot flat to the floor. So why is this? Is this some safety thing to stop you over boosting or something? As I say, no idea what the limit is now as I backed off once it started accelerating smoothly past 140 and in the correct gear. it changed up just below 6000 revs and drove at around 4000 revs when in the top gear, and as far as I could tell there wasn't a problem.
