michael
Formula One officials are investigating Lewis Hamilton's victory in Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix following complaints about erratic driving http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7027743.stm Basically the Red Bull combo being bitter about their coming together, Webber didn't have to stay with Hamilton and he certainly didn't need to be onm his gearbox, he just wanted to be for the restart, his choice There were a few times when I thought Webber would pass Hamilton beind the safety car (as with Alonso earlier) but why is that Hamilton's issue? Pete
He actually won one? Wow.
T2 MSW
Just seen this, not good! Hopefully if they find him guilty it will be a 10 place drop and not points. I have to agree it did seem a bit over the top expecially with Alonso as he went for it and then decided against it. Even still the rules state that when the safety car goes in the lead car takes over, so really everyone should be following Hamilton. But then again the safty car does not duck and dive about and slam the brakes on. He has won a few this year now!
Bobbeh
Red Bull bull should have got their slow asses out of the way, end of story
jim_supra
Well why did Webber not run into the back of Hamilton? If Webber had enough time to react and avoid Hamilton, then surely Vettel should have been the same. But Vettell wasn't as by his own admission he was looking to the side, sightseeing probably. It was 100% Vettells fault.
Gaz Walker
The fools. Just because they screwed up doesn't mean they should have the championship leader penalised. Gaz.
Pete
He has won a few this year now! Has he? I was following it up to Germany and missed that and all the others.

grahamc
WAHAHAAHAA!! Go Webber!!! It was bad driving! Will come down to what the rules around teh safety car are, and how they are perceived. POINTS!! POINTS!!
Snooze
As it says at the end of that article: "Once behind the safety car, the race leader must keep within five car lengths of it." That's it.

Alex
Lewis' driving behind the safety car was not "safe" it was erratic at best. I think a slapped wrist for Lewis and removing Vettel's penalty would be in order here. Lewis can't dick around in conditions like that when the following pack can barely see. He is supposed to stay at all times, no more than 5 car lengths from the safety car whilst the lights are on.

Must agree, was a bit erratic... maybe a 10 place penalty... lets see if he can drive with the other "monkeys" on the track!

Alex
Must agree, was a bit erratic... maybe a 10 place penalty... lets see if he can drive with the other "monkeys" on the track! I don't think ANY actions need to be taken - people are too enthusiastic to enforce sanctions when a warning would suffice. There's NO evidence that Lewis was *to blame* for the crash....lets face it all 3 were too close to each other. MW knew how Lewis was driving as should have backed off. Lewis should have been verbally slapped over the radio by the stewards and vettel too should have left a gap. In conditions with limited visibility they should all take care. MS and AF have done similar things under the safety car and they wern't dealt with in any draconian way that I can recall. G, are you still not going to rate Lewis then? Still think he can't race with em despite things like that pass on Kimi at Monza? The tussle with Kubica in France? Other than erracticness under the safety car he didn't put a wheel wrong when others were falling off the track in Japan....doesn't that say enough too? What will it take? Does he have to race from the back to the front before you say he's any good?

Gaz Walker
Does he have to race from the back to the front before you say he's any good? He's done that before, albeit not in F1 Would be nice to tick that one off too, just to silence the critics. Regards, Gaz.

Does he have to race from the back to the front before you say he's any good? I do rate him as a good racer, but not as a good racing driver, theres a BIG difference. I still believe that there are other drivers, same age, with more talent and skill than him, just limited by the team they are in. I also HATE the way ITV lives up the guys ass, it could be more them that annoys me than he does. The hype is ridicilous!! Honestly I would prefer to see the likes Williams and Honda leading over Ferrari and McLaren... but I have respect for the likes of Raikonen because you could literally see how good he was long before even got to Ferrari. Its all about how they drive with a "bad" car, when things are not going their way that makes them good. I have seen nothing like this from Hamilton, maybe one day I be proven wrong...
