Havard
No problem for me as I only ever seem to get bills..... They need some sort of competition to keep them on their toes me thinks! H.
JODY T
I sent out an urgent mail, containing a core plug for a customer, I sent it on the 17th september.. It arrived 2 october.. Im sorry to say way to late for the customer.... It was only a freebee and the cust wasnt annoyed but you always think 'does he think ive not done it' when things dont turn up... Luckily the date was stamped on the envelope

DamanC
Surely if someone isnt happy about pay then you just get another job?
Thorin
Surely if someone isnt happy about pay then you just get another job? That's what I would think too, you know what the job is and how much it pays when you take it on, if you want more money get another bloody job. Pete
They're all thieving scrotes. And gay. Ok, but what's the real reason? I don't want to slag them off if there is actually a good reason for their actions and they're truly suffering. (Although I really doubt this and think anyone that strikes should have their P45 handed to them)

Very true!! But where else will you get a job that pays about £15k (guess) a year where you have to put envelopes through holes and get finished for lunch time?? H. Thorin
Ok, but what's the real reason? Well that, and they're demanding that they are paid the "National Average" wage, which would apparently be a 27% pay increase.
DamanC
National average? Damn.........why did I bother with studying. I could have just flunked out and walked in to an average payed job having to do such a specialist task of putting little envelopes though holes in doors. I think ill go punch my postman when he turns up wednesday.
Class One
And I expect that there's 2,000,000 Eastern European cousins who would just bite The Royal Mails' arm off to have their jobs. On the flip side, all public sector workers have been offered abysmal pay rises this year at a rate below inflation (although Royal Mail is now a private enterprise) and I wouldn't be suprised to see more direct action from Public Sector service employees these coming months. Pete
Well that, and they're demanding that they are paid the "National Average" wage, which would apparently be a 27% pay increase. How is this National Average wage calculated? Across the whole country and all job types? Info here http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285 I bet they don't moan when the National Average wage falls. Don't they realise if wage bill goes up by 27% then 30% of them will have to be sacked and they'll have to work 30% harder?

Missile
this will cause me some problems if the tossers strike again, knobs:( My Dads a Postman, As is my Girlfriends Mum. My Dads not a tosser. /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_angry.gif But the main reason is they are trying to make the postal workers deliver more mail for no extra money. Its quite a mission to explain. But its not the Posties who are to blame its the big bosses that sit behind their desk's. I don't really no the whole thing. But i do no the post office has done a terrible job of explaining to people, Because like you guys. Everyone thinks its over nothing. Thorin
But the main reason is they are trying to make the postal workers deliver more mail for no extra money. I'm sorry but no they just want more money. Royal Mail need to modernise which might mean job losses, but they haven't actually said, "yes we'll be getting rid of lots of you". Therefore it's an excuse to stamp their feet and try and get more money.

colsoop
I seem to remember reading that it wasn't the money as such it was the "restructuring" from management and modernisdation - read that as more work for less money Its a pain in the bum but thats life, the powers that be are actually hurting the future of the post office as more companies spring up to take the workload from unhappy Royal mail customers.
