fri3ndly
Well I got a reply back from my useless insurance company.... Thank you for your e-mail. I have re checked the quote advised to have the rear window tinted and the increase in premium of £196.52 is correct. I have refered this also to my manager for you and they have advised this is correct. Our underwriters set the premium and when a car is modified this is seen as a higher risk. The car is seen as being more attractive and therefor increase the chance of a theft. If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact me on the Customer Services number below. Please include your policy number, date of birth and postcode in any e-mails sent to Admiral to comply with Data Protection and to enable us to deal with your enquiry. Yours sincerely Donna Glashier Customer Services Representative WHAT BULL SHIT!!! Al my other mods are covered, this is just silly. And I have a cat 1 alarm too

Ady
Why bother telling them about the tints - if the unfortunate ever happens, it would take you a fe minutes to de-tint them
fri3ndly
They are already tinted. I just wanted to be honest just incase Im unfortunate to crash this winter they cannot pin anything on me and not payout.

JamesG
its interesting this declaration stuff...............eg i wonder how many people actually declare their jspec is delimited? You can only reasonably be expected to declare mods you are aware of...and how are we meant to know whether or not the car is limited to 112mph when the highest speed limit in this country is 70mph? Snooze
You can only reasonably be expected to declare mods you are aware of. Not convinced that ignorance is a legitimate excuse!!!
Scooter
ok now i'm being really anal but what about a fog light? i suspect no one declares this mod, now ok its required for an MOT and is essential but being anal it is a modification to a J spec......... Gaz6002
I bought some anti-theft valve caps the other day. Should I call my insurers and 'fess up now or wait for the cat 'O nine tails and public stoning?
Nick
Move to Japan. Insurance companies don't care about points and modifications, only if you actually crash
Todd
no, as its a factory option, and you havnt done it. Sorry but wrong. If you buy a factory car with optional side skirts, spoiler and colour coded mud flaps then thats a modification and your premium will be higher. Already had this fight with a insurance company

Guest Ponty Boy
The increase is not purely due to theft angle. I once dealt with a claim, where the driver of the car had tinted windows and because they were tinted and it was dark, they did not see my client, who was walking across the middle of pavement entrance to a shop. Insurance company paid out over £1m in the end. So, they are seen as a bit of a liability

Already had this fight with a insurance company Not all insurance companies, one that i read clearley states that modifications need only be declared if they were NOT done as a munufacturer option
