Ady
Ok, i thuagth it was. Do the inshurance need to know anout OEM parts?
turbonut
no as OEM are standard as long as theyre specific to your particular model. if theyre specific to another supra i.e larger uk brakes put on to replace lil jspec then its a mod and would need to be declared....i believe... Do you think that would put insurance down? Surely it should seeing as they are safer brakes and they charge for just about everything else! Surely it should seeing as they are safer brakes and they charge for just about everything else! If your getting insured on a like for like basis with mods as with Sky it would probably increase your premium on a replacement basis but looking at some of the insurance threads on here its quite a minefield with no standardisation between them and not necessarily down to safety. Best thing is to ask Theres a representetive from sky and ( I think) a link, give them a shout, A plan is another to try, http://www.aplan.co.uk/contact.php?int= theyre quite competetive and sympathetic to jap car owners. Good luck anyway L

movistar
Iam with adrian flux insurance, had a chatt with someone there the other day about all this and she said the insurace company i was with were only going to charge me more if the engine had been modified and they were not fussed about body kits wheels ect...it will cost me an extra £60 to go bup(they said stage1 tune) on a jspec TT...quite good i thought. Ady
No i think they see it as you wanting to go faster as a result. Thats a good point Im just wondering if i need to tell them about my OEM side skirts and as some of you know, i have an OEM and VEILSIDE spat. So i might change them over to OEM spats, just wondering if the inshurance need know or not? about the skirts and spats?
pete_TT
I dont think you have to declare optional extras ie larger toyota brakes or oem body Panels(Skirts and spats). Though i might be wrong.
Burna
I had no increase with body modifications with Sky ie: skirts and spats.
jim_supra
To be safe and to avoid any problems should you need to claim off them, Declare the changes. Just make sure you let them know that that the parts are Toyota optional extras.
hoff
Thats what Id do with OEM. It shouldn't have a great bearing on your premium.
