dazla
So sorry to hear this mate, I really feel for you. Its a very hard time just knowing what is to come and waiting for that day. I had to have one of my dogs put to sleep in January. She had cancer and lost all her weight and became incompetent and lost the fair on her back and to top it off she went blind in the last month. The hardest thing was is that she was still full of beans, but i couldn't watch her suffer anymore. It was the hardest thing i have ever done. My advise for you is to spoil her some much and spend alot of time with her. Give her everything she wants. You have done your best at the end of the day and time is a great healer. daz
dazla
So sorry to hear this, We lost Shilo (weimaraner) suddenly a cpl of years back and it hit me like a train. I never thought i'd feel the way i did, This may sound bad but its true, It hurt more loosing the dog than it did loosing my Grandpa which you probably don't want to hear right now (sorry). Anyway i feel for you and like the others have said do the right thing for the little fella. Dino. I know what you mean Dino, with the whole more pain than losing a human. Its a strange one even though it shouldn't be that way. I think its the bond you have with a dog or cat, and the fact that they are so helpless and rely on you for everything. I'm logging off now this is bringing back to many memories:(

Greenauto
Sorry to hear about your dog mate. Doesn't make it any easier for you but I lost my cat when he was only two through kidney failure too. It is devastating but you'll always have your memories of the time you have had with her. Be strong and remember we're all here for you. Feel for you! jevansio
Took Mulan to the vets this evening. Told her how she'd been doing the last couple of days (eating hardly nothing). The vet explained we could go down the route of drips etc but it would only be a temporary relief, then hit me with the sledgehammer that putting her down now was probably the kindest thing I could do. I burst into tears, phoned Rachel (who was sat in the car outside as she couldn't bear it), I asked her if she wanted to see her one last time, she said no as if Mulan came out she wouldn't let them take her back. I made the hardest decision I've ever had to make & I told the vet we'd decided now was the best time. I held her for one last time, & continued to hold her, wispering everything was going to be OK as the vet administrated the injection. She felt heavy in my arms and then layed down on the floor, she was free . I'm so pleaed I carried her to bed to sleep with me last night as I had a funny feeling our time together was limited. I'd like to thank everyone one for their support, I'm absoluetly gutted right now. Here's a couple of pics of her in her prime: Just after we got her: http://www.imotors.co.uk/temp/jay/Mulan/Mulan 1.JPG Me & her on the couch: http://www.imotors.co.uk/temp/jay/Mulan/Mulan & Jay Asleep 5.JPG http://www.imotors.co.uk/temp/jay/Mulan/Mulan Jay 3.JPG Mulan with Wilbur the new pup: http://www.imotors.co.uk/temp/jay/Mulan/Mulan & Wilbur 1.JPG http://www.imotors.co.uk/temp/jay/Mulan/Mulan & Wilbur 2.jpg

Mrs H
Really feel for you, it's horrible losing part of the family. You did what was best though, so take some comfort in that, you can't let them suffer no matter how much you don't want to let them go. Our Charlie (a mad mut) has just turned 12 and his back legs are getting weaker. I'm dreading the day that we lose him. Have a damn good cry and then focus on all the good times! jevansio
Is Wilbur yours too? Aye Rosie, he does seem to make this whole situation easier, he's not one of Mulans though as we never bred from her.

Paul
Sorry to read this mate, gone through it myself several times and it's horrible:( They rely on you all their life for food, walks and cuddles and making that decision is the last thing you can do for them, you know it's time but still the hardest thing to do:( Just remember all the good times you had throughout her life. Take care, Paul
zap
We are so sorry to hear about Mulan - our hearts go out to you. We have also lost much loved dogs and can certainly sympathise. I love the piccy's - a georgeous dog. Cherish every moment you had together, and yes - you did the right thing in not letting Mulan suffer.
