jevansio
My dog Mulan (6yr old Shar Pei) has been been losing weight for a month or so, I took her to the vets and after a blood sample was told her kidneys have just about packed in. She said if she were a human they'd be doing a transplant now. Feeling absolutely devastated at the moment as she's the first pet I've had since childhood. I'm sort of coming to terms with the fact she ain't got long left & just want to make her remaining days stress free. :(

Chris Wilson
Bad news, I feel for you, and the dog, but be strong, do the right thing for the animal, however much YOU hurt doing it. Good luck, renal failure in dogs is never good news. This may help, http://www.petshealth.com/dr_library/caninekidney.html search on "kidney renal failure dogs" for a load more info. Pot
As above, think of what's best for the little guy... Losing a pet is never nice, I haven't had a pet for quite a few years now, but the closest one I had was a cat called 'Chips' (We got him from the lady at the Chippy, without being funny, he had to be put down as he has cancer of the arse... Seeing posts like this make me think about him, and still makes me think about him with a touch of sadness, but it's something which happens and you can't stop... Just do the best for your pet, and knowing you did that will make them feel better, and give you some comfort...

bmx1lew
ahhh no way man gutted for you i really know how you feel just reading this thread has put a lump in my throat, really reminds me of my dog, from age 2 till i was 17 i had a miniature schnauzer so basicly i was brought up with her, it really was like loosing a member of family which to me it was , still to this day i some times feel i miss her, it's hard when you get attached to them that's why i am unsure about getting another one but i really want a husky, also one of my best mates dog, zack ( german shepard) is on his way out and i mean when people say mans best friend is his dog with him and zack it is he proper loves his dog man i've never seen a person be so close to a dog, its going to be really sad to see him go and the upset it will cause, loosing a pet is hard loosing a Dog is harder and i hope you get through ok. if Mulan is in any pain or discomfort please put her down for both your sake, it's the best way and it will be easier on your self as your going to have to watch Muland detieriorate and suffer through time and the last thing you want, is to see and have that play on your mind, keep her wrapped up and give her a hug from me, hope you get through ok and i wish Mulan a peacefull passing chin up man. lew

Gamer
Good luck mate. I have just recently found out that one of my 8 dogs has cancer of the bowel. It is the whippet that I have and they are thin to begin with, now with this he looks like a skeleton with skin. Seems to be responding to chemotherapy so hopefully he can stay with us for a bit longer...
