supraspeed
hi people, as some of you know my gearbox went few months back after only owning the car (supra N/A-->Single turbo conv 5spd man) for 3 1/2 weeks. finally saved up the cash to fix the gearbox and what should the mechanics find out... Not only the gearbox is totally screwed but its from a toyota pick-up with a conversion inc a pick-up propshaft and a few other bits thrown in with a different clutch housing etc. bottom line i'm completely screwed as the importer a bought it off didn't really have a clue about the car and ive got no warranty or anything. i'm in trouble... markjodrell
so in effect you need a replacement pickup gearbox, could be tricky.
jim_supra
No, from the sounds of it he needs a stock NA 5spd box, shouldn't be too tricky to get hold of. EDIT: Try Jezzybabes on here, he may have one in.
edge
So you had a n/a - tt - truck conversion. OMG what a mess. maybe they thought it would be stronger? Hope it gets sorted
Scoboblio
Wouldn't he need the propshaft, gearbox housing and clutch too?
jim_supra
Wouldn't he need the propshaft, gearbox housing and clutch too? Sorry, my bad, didn't read the post properly. Yes, he would need those too. Edit; having said that, I cannot see how they could fit a prop shaft from a pick-up to a Supra, surley it just wouldn't fit. supraspeed
yeah its not looking much of a bright future... the people who are fixing the car have already got a getrag gearbox in stock so its only getting the other parts now. think i'l sell it and get a decent 6spd tt man... if i can afford it... jim_supra
They have a 6spd gearbox in? So you are now looking to put that in instead of a 5spd? That would be the best way to go for NA-T but not cheap!
supraspeed
they never actually said it was 6 speed. just it was a getrag one... if its 6 speed than thats better for me on the selling front in the future

Also, if they say it's a 5spd then it's not a Getrag box.
Guigsy
yeah 5 speed wasnt getrag. seems a hell of a wierd conversion to do :S the 6 speed will need a different clutch and flywheel also... so yout talking £££ ive pmd u as my 5 speed might be coming out soon. but i dont have a date yet. but if i remember ill let you know. Other than that im sure jezzy can help you it woul dbe easier to just put a 5 back in there i would have thaught (then the vin's will match whats actualy in the car )
