KimberleyAnn
Hey all, After i left a jap meet, coming out off brighton marina, i nearly lost the supra! Rhamps ( my freind in an mr2) was behind me, coming off of the roundabout up the hill, and i just tapped the accelorator, and the whole car spun! dont know how i controlled it, but i felt kinda sick after! Homer
Whoops! Good job it was an NA In all seriousness, it's a fairly powerful RWD car with (probably) no TC. You can't just jab the throttle when going through harder turns and expect it to grip perfectly, especially in the colder/wetter weather. Digital throttle input is a no-no, throttle and steering input needs to be a smooth as possible as the temps (and grip) drop. Wait untill it gets really cold & icy... then things get fun

RedM
When you say 'tapped the accelerator' do you actually mean 'I buried it into the carpet 'cause I was showing off and my mate was in a sportscar behind me'? I bet your exhaust sounded great driving through the underpasses around there.

Kranz
managed to get one last year in the winter saying she was facing the wrong direction along the A6 near bedford having just tapped the throttle and that was in her mx-5!!!! 2 bags of gravel in the boot later and she managed to keep it in a straight line! Ai interesting point about the extra weight in the bank sorting it out. I suspect a lot of the problem is caused (on the Supra) by the lower weight over the back wheels (compared to the front... anyone know what the split is?) and the relatively wide tyres and high power giving low contact pressure in the wet. This equates to less ability for the tyre to 'cut' through the standing water and an increased risk of hydroplaning. This is even more aggravated by low tyre pressures and high performance low profile tyres. We all know the dangers of loss of traction on bends/roundabouts at both low & high speed So, to reduce the risk of this occuring there are several things that can be done: Fit wet weather tyres at the end of summer (std size if running wider than stock) Keep tyres at the upper range of the recommended pressures Increase the weight over the back wheels (full fuel tank & extra weight secured in the boot?) Fit RLTC Keep off the loud pedal Get some skidpan training
