Havard
Had a comedy moment tonight whilst outside painting my garden fence. I was expecting a call form my dad to go and watch the footie at a local pub so I took my mobile outside with me while I painted. I never take valuables outside while I'm working as I always stand on them or leave them out in the rain etc, but I broke my golden rule for once. After a while the phone rang in my pocket. Whipped it out quick sticks as you do.... Before i had chance to say "Hi" it flew out of my hand, after a couple of juggles it went PLOP into my bucket of water based paint! Quick thinking I gave it a rinse with the hose pipe and got it indoors and got some heat on it to dry it off before it was FUBAR!! Whehey!! Phone still worked and all was well! Then ten minutes later it died.....and is still dead! This had all my contact numbers stored in it as my company had sent me a new sim card last month and I had forgotten to transfer them to the sim off the phone..!! Anybody got any ideas on how to retrieve the info or is it the end of the world!! H.
TT-DEK
Take apart and stick on the rad over nite, but put it on a towell? worked for me a couple of weeks ago. Make sure you take battery off though
Homer
I accidentally washed my Sony ericsson a while back... they certainly don't like water! Try removing the battery and sim, leaving it drying on a towel above a radiator for a day or so. Once it's dried, but it on charge - watching carefully! It worked on the Sony phone long enough to transfer contacts to the sim card, but it never made another call! Edit - too slow!
Havard
IT'S ALIVE........ALIVE!!! Thanks for the advice guys. Got up this morning and gave the phone a try, wooty woot it worked. Just transfered all my contacts to the sim card!! I would have been fooked if I had lost all those numbers! Aren't phones resilient?? H. Ric
any electrical device can be submerged in water, as long as the power is taken out ASAP and out of it while its drying, and totally dry when power reattached it "should" work again
jonshaw_uk
ive seen computers that have been virtually drowned - leave them to dry for a few days power them up and away they go
Havard
Well this story doesn't have a happy ending as I have now discovered that the phone is actually buggered!! If you make an outgoing call, you can hear the people at the other end but they can't hear you!! At least I rescued all my numbers off it!! H. garetheves
Quality. Reminds me of a mate of a mine who was washing his car. Carrying the bucket out from the house in two hands while talking on the phone (Holding the phone between ear and shoulder). Asking for trouble i know. Anyway, he feels the phone start to slip so he thinks "Hang on i dont want my phone to fall on the floor and damage it", so in his infinite wisdom he proceeded to catch it in the bucket of warm water Worked for a bit then died a horrible death. I still remind him of it to this day.

Gerry
Reminds me of a (phoneless) incedent when staining the wooden front of the garage, the pointy bit above the up and over door. Put my ladders up and 5 litres of red cedar on top and started to paint... Had a little wobble so put my hand out on the top of the door to steady myself and the door dissapears into "up and over" mode (handn't shut it properly). The bottom of the door then flew out (the up bit) and took the bottom of the ladders out in an instant. I flew off the top and fell down the opening door along with the wood stain and 10 seconds later was on the floor along with the laders, both covered with red cedar stain. It took ages with a hose pipe to get rid of the stain from the from the concrete, looked like the enterance to a slaughterhouse.
