StuartW
Getrag V160 gearbox only. Ready to be couriered or collected from Devon. Purchased from this site 6 months ago. I ended up buying a complete smashed TT6 for my own 6 speed conversion (see my garage) Bought in good faith. Oil checked and looks nice and clean. Offers above £1500 Consider it an auction as i know how hard these are to get and a rebuild can cost in excess of £2k and can take months anyway. Was gonna keep as a spare but i broke my arm powerboat racing 6 weeks ago and subsequently skint as self employed:( Post bids onto this thread will run for 6 days ending sunday night @20.00Hrs Thanks Knightrider EDIT: Starting Bids opened @ £1000 Plus Delivery (estimate £50) (Paypal charges 4%) or Cheques

I know for a fact that any rebuild for V160 costs a mint and takes forever as i have been down that road myself for the past 2 years. i am only asking what i paid for it. If you think i got ripped off then fine, I still do not think so... p.s. 6 speed Conversions reguarly go for £2.5k on this site Knightrider

Whitesupraboy2
are you saying its been rebuilt then? Just spotted that, if thats the case, that price is fairer.
StuartW
Just so you know traders sell these at £600 + VAT, had the same quote from 3 different breakers last week. Brilliant! Thanks guys..When i was stuck for this no one came up with anything apart from silly priced conversions...Which is why i waited so long to buy a complete crashed car with 6 speed. Nice to know you are all there to help when i need it:rolleyes:
Guigsy
yep i just almost baught one for £950 but it doesnt look like its going through as there is a hairline crack in the bell houseing. Will you not even considder bids below 1.5k? cause im not gonna want to pay more than a grand for one.

I will see what happens by the weekend but as i say i am in the SH@T at the moment financially so yes i will sell it to the highest bidder which if you are serious could be you @£1000 (I am being honest here but think it might be easier to do PM) p.s. no cracks in this one Knightrider 07788774991

The way you did it by buying a complete crashed car was probably be the best way and easiest.
RobSheffield
Wasnt £2500 for the full 6 speed conversion including all the extras and fitting?
Pig
Wasnt £2500 for the full 6 speed conversion including all the extras and fitting? Nope, i paid 2500 for mine (came with a RPS tripple plate though)........turned out to be shagged and needed replacing. I think 2 - 2.5 is the going rate excluding the fitting

StuartW
I know this guys sells them and this is what he thought of the price of £1100 http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=1596181&postcount=18 Was that the guy who i called and mailed ten times and was held up 2 months for gearbox that did not come about?? Or was that the guy who rebuilds them and takes over 3 months and has to wait another 3 months for parts from Germany?? All very well saying they have sold for Peanuts but how often? I actually crashed my TT6 in May 2004 and asked as a guest on this site how much the 6 speed was worth..If you can find the post it mentioned £250...Subsequently i could not be bothered to remove it from my wreck and it went off to be allegedly crushed
Jezz
Wasnt £2500 for the full 6 speed conversion including all the extras and fitting? £2200 for the parts Rob. ALL the parts. Fitting is around £800 give or take, wether it be Pheonix, Interpro or us. Turbofit would have charged you 30p and a pint of milk, but your clutch would have been put in backwards, diff fallen out after 30 miles, and a welded up bellhousing made of B&Q wood glue and coat hanger screws. I know there's a shortage of 6 speed parts so its a sellers market, but £1500 is over double what we charge for just the box, and if you ask me, a bit 'anti club spirit', ie 'ripoff'. IIRC brand new Getrags are around £2000 + dreaded from Toyota. Anyways, lets stop turding in this guys thread, he obviously knows the market for these items, and fair play when he gets his price, cos he probably will. 6 Speed conversions have just gone up to £4500 + vat. Jezz
Was that the guy who i called and mailed ten times and was held up 2 months for gearbox that did not come about?? Yes, that will be me. See, I've not had a 6 speed box come in to stock for around 8 months, cos people keep buying them, and hoarding them till they can extort as much sterling from club members desperate for one. I'd be doing the same if I had any in stock.
StuartW
So has the gearbox been rebuilt? as I can't tell from your posts? as wsb says that would explain the price if it has? and it's hardly the clubs fault that you didnt pick up the phone and phone a few breakers. Go buy from breakers as i do not know if mine has been rebuilt. As i said i bought it in good faith but when i tried to get all parts to convert i was being quoted another £2.5k from Toyota so bought complete crashed car instead hence why this one for grabs:slapped:
Guigsy
I'd be doing the same if I had any in stock. stop trying to rip poor punters off and get me an engine and dont hike the price on that ether (check your pm aswell i sent you one earlier)
colsoop
You can buy a VVTi supra for 9k if you look does that mean every VVTI has to cost the same ? He has put up a price for the part, why the need to tell him his price is too high He has commoin sense if it doesn't sell he will drop the price simple really. Too many people looking for bargains for their own gains IMHO.
Guigsy
very true. ive offered a price. but im sticking for it for various reasons. mostly being i cant afford much more. However this is an acuction so if someone wants it more than me then there welcome to pay
Whitesupraboy2
Too many people looking for bargains for their own gains IMHO. Not looking for a bargain Last thing I want is too take more of my car apart but if a member brought it for that price when I know it should be cheaper (especially being a mod) I would feel i should of said something, a couple hundred quid fair enough. Ironically KnightRider feels like this as he has put in an earlier post 'where were we all for him' although people told him it should be around £800. Unfortuantly the circle has to stop somewhere.
