Kev.O
Can anyone tell me what material this is made from? I've sent it to an engineering company so they can weld in the WBO2 boss/flange, but got a phonecall today saying it was made of ali and as the boss is steel, they will have to custom make a new boss out of ali. matt k
I would have assumed Stainless Kev, I've never heard of an ali mid-pipe.

Kev.O
Aluminized steel IIRC Does that mean you can weld steel onto it though?
Kopite
I think you can, we welded an adaptor onto the end of the midpipe without any bother, that's going back a while though but I'm pretty certain it was just a normal weld. Not 100% sure though...

Nic
Why are you welding it on the mid pipe?
RobSheffield
Why are you welding it on the mid pipe? It is designed to be 36" from the turbo dude
Chris Wilson
Put it nearer the turbo, it'll be fine, I run Bosch wide bands in the turbo outlet, 3 inches awy, with no problem. Or if you really want it further back in the mid pipe get them to remove all trace of the aluminising before welding. If they can't work out what it's made of I would worry about their competence to be honest... If they try and weld THROUGH the aluminising expect the weld to look like pigeon shit! The last time i tried welding it looked like pigeon shit
