My missus works for a charity looking after kids with spina bifida and hydracephalus, so I can tell you that they dont like the term handicapped - it implies cap in hand, ie begging cos you cant do anything else. Spastic is no good either.

 

That said, I am laughing at Jake :D

 

Anyway, they prefer to be called disabled, whether it's mental or physical ;)

 

My missus was taking three kids for a day out one day, and she took a wrong turn and immediately exclaimed 'Oh I'm such a spaz' :D They were okay with it though ;)

Differently gifted?? We will all go to hell. I used to work in a "Special" school, most of the kids had Cerebral palsy, its quiet an eye opener really. The term physically challenged was used a lot but again its not really descriptive enough, most Americans are Physically Challenged after all :D
