Chris and Alana
I have just fitted RLTC into the soop and done the prelim checks with the little led and turning the adjuster. It detects the revs and all 4 wheel speeds blink the LED at the same rate so that part should be fine. I then went to do the configuration where you drive in a straight line do a tight turn and drive in a straight line again but I cant get the bloody thing to decide it's happy. Do any of you guys have any helpfull tips on how to do this as Iv tried several times now and ended up coming home and having a beer Im sure there is a secret way of doing this that isnt in the instructions. Chris and Alana
I have been in contact with phil about a dat file as Iv heard he is very good with them but heard nothing back Are you out there Phil
Chris and Alana
Just checked my email and have a dat from phil thanks for that
Chris and Alana
If I upload the new dat file onto the RL unit does that mean that I dont have to do the driving thing?
RedM
You need to allocate the wheels before using a DAT! The easiest method is to ignore the test drive set-up and allocate them by hand. This will involve jacking the car up and rotating each wheel manually. There are details on how to do this in the manual. Only when you know which wheel is allocated to which sensor can you use the set-up software properly.
Chris and Alana
Ahh, ok thank's for that So does the test drive set-up just allow the RL unit to decide which wheel is allocated to which sensor by itself?
RedM
Ahh, ok thank's for that So does the test drive set-up just allow the RL unit to decide which wheel is allocated to which sensor by itself? It should do but it doesn't always work. Another method is to connect a laptop to the unit and drive around a mini-roundabout. The live readings from each wheel will allow you to work out which sensor is connected to each wheel. ie. the the rear inside wheel will be faster than the rear outside wheel (I think! Curse this Gin). It is important that RLTC know which sensor is connected to which wheel.
RobSheffield
ie. the the rear inside wheel will be faster than the rear outside wheel (I think! Curse this Gin) Other way round but otherwise perfect
Chris and Alana
Thanks for the help guy's, I'll give it ago tomorrow
RedM
Other way round but otherwise perfect It's the Gin. I was trying to remember Mike Broadbent's playground roundabout analogy. Anyway, the info is on page 20 of the RL manual. HERE:http://www.racelogic.co.uk/_downloads/traction/Traction_Manual.pdf
Chris and Alana
Thanks again guy's So if I plug the laptop into the RL unit tomorrow and jack each wheel up and spin it by hand it will come up which wheel is being turned? Sorry if I sound stupid this is the first time iv done this before
RedM
No. Plug the calibration dongle into the lead. Then spin each wheel in turn while seeing which setting on the RL box starts to flash. So, if you are spinning the drivers side front and the unit is on setting 15% and flashing then make a note that this is wheel setting four. Obviously if it doesn't flash then try another setting. You'll only need to find three as the fourth will be the only setting left. Once you have all the wheel speed setting go to your RL software and allocate the wheels manually. There is a drop down box next to each wheel. Simply set it to the number you have noted. BTW, you REALLY have to spin the wheels. Once each wheel is set download the dat to the unit. Terminator's dats can't tell you which wheel is which but this (and the tyre sizes) is the only additional effort you need to put in. Chris and Alana
Ahh, I think I get it now so if for example I set it to 'wet' and spin the RL wheel and the LED starts flashing then I would ender CH1 into the RL drop down menu on the RL software and do that until I get them all. . .If so I think Iv got it and I can get busy finishing this off tomorrow. I'm a little sore after trying to fit the bugger today without a fields harness I should have hired a contortionist.

Got it. That's how I did mine in the end but only after I drove up and down an empty car-park for nearly an hour.
