100 Black balls

100 white balls

50/50 Mixed of Black and White balls

 

Question: How many balls would you need to take out, as to identify whats in what barrel and correct the labelling?

I would imagine 51 of each as a worst case scenario!!

I'm going for 51 also. You'd have to be incredibly unlucky though.

nope, same texture...

 

We came up this theory.....if they are all incorectly labelled, then you go for the mixed barrel first - Whatever you pull out will be the 100 white or 100 black.. But then we got stuck on the last 2 barrels.

I should have said 2 from each barrel.

I would say perhaps 5-10 from each of the first 2 barrels

 

If black or white move to the next and take 5

 

If they are mixed colours, move to the next barrel, whatever colour it is (white or black) you then know the last barrel will be the opposite (black or white)

Take one from each barrel, then continue to take one from each barrell untill a different colour from what you have already taken from each barrell is found.

 

Picking an exact number would be very difficult as that number will constantly change. for instance one person could take 5 white balls out of the mixed barrell before they took out a black, whereas another person could take out a white then straight away take out a black.
