Newgendesign
Im only asking this as my yellow fuel light is on and there is 1mm of dial showing fuel in tank.... I need to get to local fuel station 3 miles away. Do ya reckon I'll make it? I've heard that there is 40 miles left in it when light comes on (I hardly beleive that tho!) JamesG
When I fill my car up after the fuel light turns on (not very often), it takes about 60 litres. So you have about 10 litres left in the tank. That's about 40 miles worth.

Steve Cargill
The UK has an 80L tank, the J spec a 70. On my J spec the light would one on and I'd get 57L in it, after the fuel pump was changed I'd get 53L when the light came on.

oxygene
Im guilty of this...i run my tank right the way down nearly every time. When the orange light comes on m8, you have got a while to go yet, but just dont forget it. If you know you are not gonna be near a petrol station, keep the revs down and should be good
Red
The other week, I was amazed by the distance i went with no fuel indicating. I pulled out of gatwick airport and it was indicating empty - on the bottom line. I was planning on going to oxford and drove onto the m25 thinking that there would be one on there. There wasn't! I turned off onto the m40 - shitting myself by now as it was 1am. Thinking there must be services soon on the m40, I slowed down to 60 and kept my fingers crossed. Anyway - no petrol station all the way to fecking oxford! can you believe that!?!? Car started chugging and choking as i pulled into the petrol station on the road into oxford. At least i had something to think about on my drive!!!!
