Andrew
Anyone know what the tyre pressure should be on the front? I think either my wheels need balancing or the tyre pressure is wrong. I have tyre wear on the outside edge of my right front, I take it the outside wearing is due to under inflation. The problem I have is the sup is a J-spec but it has 17' UK spec wheels, so the pressure could possibly be different.
Neil Sandham
mines a uk so I have 17inchers. I set them to 36psi as per the sticker on the inside of the door pillar. cheers Neil.

Andrew
Thanks Neil, do you know off hand what the pressure should be on the back? Bradb do you live near the Japanese Import Centre? You can sometimes pick up 17' wheels they take off the resent imports. When I was there last they sold a set to a guy for £50.
Bradb
Seriously Andy. Geez, I'd be down there like a shot. I'll have a bowl of that. Whats there number. Cheers,
Guest Martin F
Jesus 17' wheels, they must be real monsters. The 16" ones are usually £50 a set, but the 17" ones go for nearer £300.

Neil Sandham
Both front and back are 36 psi for the uk 17 inchers. Cheers Neil
Terminator
MKIV's tend to wear on the inside, if you are wearing on the outside , it might be alignment rather than pressure. 35 front and 34 rear is a good compination, even wear if alignment is spot on. Andrew
Cheers Neal. Looks like your right Term the alignment must be out, as the tyre pressure on the worn tyre was spot on 36psi.
AJI
Sounds like a wheel tracking issue rather than inflation.... you probably have a bit too much toe-out on the front. A couple of months ago I had a bit too much toe-in and it was wearing away the inside tread like a bugger. It made for real sharp cornering but it had to be sorted or else I'd end up with slicks. If its was under inflation then you'd be wearing both inside and outside tread at the same time. Over inflation wears away the middle tread.
