LONDON (AFP) - A man caught speeding at a British record of 172 miles (277 kilometres) per hour was jailed for 10 weeks on Monday.

Tim Brady, 33, from Harrow in north-west London, became the fastest person ever caught by a British speed camera for his spin in a 98,000-pound (198,000-dollar, 141,000-euro) 3.6-litre Porsche 911 Turbo in January.

He was clocked by a random speed check near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, southern England, Oxford Crown Court heard. Brady pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving.

His speed beat the previous record of 156 mph (251 kph) set by a car dealer in Scotland in 2003.

What about that? Muppet! On a traffic free motorway I could understand it. If I was in a 911 turbo I'd be tempted

164 leptons is the fastest i've been at. It was a remapped Celica Carls Sainz. It was still accelerating hard at that but I chickened out lol.

I was constantly doing just above 170 leptons 2 weeks ago...almost every day for 4 days

but it was in Germany :p

However 170-172 leptons is just around 160 according to GPS...

our speedos are not correct at all (I recon around 6-7% less)

My intention was to hit 180 on speedo. I still had enough power to do that (170-172 and was still accelarating) but roads were pretty packed during the day and I had too much wine & beer by the end of the day to drive at night :D
