Marty
Im also looking at upgrading my pc very soon. I only have a 2.99ghz at the mo, pentium4, with 2gb of ram. Was looking at buying something like this, with a case like this. A power supply. maybe 2 raptor drives, or cheetah drives. And 2gb matched pair ram. I already have a evga 7950gtx 1gb graphics card so that'll keep me going for a bit, its just the rest of the pc thats holding it back. Ive got £600 to spend on it, anyone think of a better spec for that price?
jase_93tt
I use Quad Core 6700 cpu, 6gig 667mhz ram (I know, I should have gone for 800mhz!), 4 x 150gig raptors SATA, 1 x 8800GTX 768mb graphics and its yet to slow down when running 2560x1600 res games on full detail. But then I havnt tried the very latest games on it yet. Still playing SWG after 3 years lol Was happy with 4gig ram when using XP Home (which only saw 3.25gig of that), but since "upgrading" to Vista 64-bit, which is such a memory whore, Ive increase to 6 gig J
Ian C
The difference between dual and quad on an otherwise-exactly-the-same-spec pair of PCs was incredible when playing a bigass game of supreme commander. Looking at exactly the same 150+ unit scrap going on, my dual was experiencing slideshow bob, my friend's quad was at about 40fps. Bastard Of course, SC CTD's all the time on long games rending it useless to play co-op but hey. Go quad. As things start to use it your investment will last longer than a slightly faster dual. -Ian
