Warning light on Rev Counter

Hey,

Ive had a few electrical problems with the car since i picked it up on Thursday.

Anyway, we seem to have sorted them out. But when im driving the hazard light is coming on and also the handbrake light comes on with it.

It doesnt have a specific time, just pops on and off, sometimes its on for a minute, sometimes a few seconds,

Any ideas, as its really bugging me?

:(

Check brake fluid level in brake reservoir tank if low it causes both lights to light up intermittent signs of brake pads getting low. If brake pads low don't just put more brake fluid in change pads otherwise next time pads are changed there will be overspill & you don't want brake fluid going everywhere.

Good point Lui, forgot about that :)

The brake fluid level warning system is very sensitive. Make sure it's topped up to the 'max' level on the fluid reservoir.

Does your Overdrive light flash too?

I have the same problem. Lights will sometimes come on when I give the car some stick and will then stay on until I switch off the ignition.

No that doesnt seem to come on, just the red hazard light on the rev counter and the light for the handbrake.

Since having the electrical problems, it seems to come on more. Also the engine management light and the lgihts on that panel are all out when you turn the ignition on...... think it all needs rewiring!

When you turbo the ignition onto 2, there should be 3 lights in the right hand side panel: orange engine management light, red oil presure light and an orange oil level light. If one or all 3 of these are not coming on then it's a very common fault - the solder in the board on the back will have a hairline crack. This just needs to be (carefully) heated with a soldering oil to reseal them. 5 minute job if you can use a soldering iron.

Once you have that fixed you can check for fault codes and identify exactly what the issue is.

BTW, you'll need to join the club if you want to reply ;)

Well the 3 lights are coming on with ignition and turning off now, so that seems to be fixed.

But still have this stupid warning light, coming on more now. But when i put my foot down it goes off, then when i back off it comes back on.

:sly:Silly car

loose conection on handbrake lever its self, under the covering, ive had this problem before. check that out

Ok il get a freind to check it out, as i dunno what im doing! :( or........how can i check it? lol

where the handbrake handle is you wana take of that cover that runs before it, thin flexi plastic stuff, then you should see wires there. two, when they contact eachother the lights come on. so if they are broken or loose vibration or moving will cause your prob.

Its the Triangle in the middle of the rev counter, and the handbrake little light in the bottom right (!) like that

It use to be coming on a little bit, but now its on all the time, unless i put my foot down, then it goes, but when i back off, it comes back on.

I tried looking at the wires by the handbrake, but dont have a clue what i am doing. I removed the cover, and there wer 2 wires running up to it, they did look shabby but i wasnt sure what i was doing? Also il check the brake fuild again tomorrrow and top it up if need be. Its really annoying me now! lol

Ok the light is always on now. My freind who is an electrican thinks that when the jap tv was removed, it had a handbrake sensor on it???

Apprantly there not meant to work when the handbrake is on? he thinks he switch needs to be overrided or something?

Could this be the cause? or is it most likely rubbish? lol
