newage
I'm thinking of getting a supra and wondered if the auto is better than the manual and which is quicker or are they very much the same.
merckx
Hi This question has been asked many times before, it's always best to do a search and you'll find loads of stuff.
edge
The auto is a bloody good box but will struggle to handle more than bpu reliably. 6 speed is what they use in tractors but is also a good box and can handle alot more than the auto.. Try both.

Snooze
There is a waiting list of people who want to do auto->manual conversions. The list of people wanting manual->auto conversions is a lot shorter!
Jake
The auto box is for an old man's car. The 6sp is more of a driver's car. It's a well known fact that the ability to press a clutch pedal and move the gear lever makes you more of man and proves that you are superior to mere auto drivers. Once you've got a manual TT remember to bang-on endlessly about track-days. For added effect, throw in phrases like "heel and toe" to really rub those auto drivers up the wrong way, the paupers! Jake
Where's Micheal? I think he'll be keeping out of this thread, under the cirmumstances. He's no choice but to drive an auto now Shocking news about his legs - I couldn't believe it when I heard. Be strong Mike. We're all praying for you. I don't fancy an old boy's chances in a BPU'd Auto, but undeniably a 6sp manual is the true drivers choice. Don't overlook the day to day practicality of an Auto though which are able to respond very well when needed on normal roads or a "boring" 1/4 strip, and the way their prices have taken a hit recently you could bag yourself quite a bargain. sparkyspar
personally i now prefer the auto box two hands on the wheel when cornering at 100 seems to feel safer and more in control than one ,but maybe thats me..) and dont quote me on this but im sure i read someware that thers only about 2seconds differance between a stock auto and stock manual up to a 100 ,ok tt will make a diff tho.. Class One
Yeah, the manual is 2 seconds slower Cheers, Brian. Even when it's a well sorted T67 vs a well sorted Auto Bpu(+) over a standing start quarter.

rovervi
so would a stock TT auto be faster than stock TT manual over 1/4 mile stretch?
