Sandy-m2
Ok so I put a boost gauge in, and i'm getting .6 on tubby 1 and .8 on tubby two, I decated the car and put a 1 bar RR in but no extra boost - getting boost earlier but not more, so I remove the RR thinking its too restrictive but still no more boost. Can anyone shed any light on it. Thanks S
tDR
Do you have an aftermarket exhaust system fitted?
Sandy-m2
no stock, are you going to crail next week?
tDR
Wasn't planning to - I'm not gonna see much improvement on my 11.9 I ran at USSC on that crappy surface. Is there a few Supras going? You're not gonna see any real extra boost on the stock exhaust - it's far too restrictive. You need to go aftermarket, then you'll need the RR depending on how free flowing the new system is. Cheers, Brian.

tDR
Bet you can't match your times at Crail, even with the decats!

Nic
Try removing the restrictor ring and see what it boosts to (be careful not to let it go too high). There's probably too much of a restriction at the moment with the stock exhaust AND the restrictor ring. If it boosts too high then make the hole in the restrictor ring a bit bigger and refit, it may need a bit of trial and error to get the size of the hole right. Thanks Nic, I have already done this and no extra boost.
Sandy-m2
So to dig up this old topic, would i be doing any damage by using a Boost Controller to up the boost with the stock back box (no cats)?
gaz1
if it won,t boost without a restrictor ring, and won,t boost with the cats out, don,t think a boost controller will help, hopefuly someone more knollegable will be along soon
jamesmark
Buy a cat back as already said the stock exhaust system is too restrictive. This one would be good as it is based on the excellent RS*R http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=133218
Scooter
So to dig up this old topic, would i be doing any damage by using a Boost Controller to up the boost with the stock back box (no cats)? do you have a FCD? If you are just going to up the boost to just below the stock fuel cut level i think it will be fine............

jamesmark
I like the look of that one, but I dont want a much louder exhaust than stock. Get a pussy exhaust then like the superdrager. It has a nice rumble to it on idle but on full pelt it is quite quiet, MK47 had one on his and I followed him to JAE 2006 and it was silent, even when we done a rolling start against each other it was quiet, louder than stock but only just.
