robin
Everyone has a 6 pack, its normally covered by fat though. As far as I know there is no way of targeting an area when it comes to burning fat. Situps will build the muscles but the only way to make them visiable is by having a very low level of bodyfat. Stratty
I am fortunate enough to have a six pac You can do as many sit-ups as you like but it wont make one bit of difference. Remember the golden rule young grasshopper.... "ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN, NOT THE GYM" Your bodyfat level will need to be approx 10% for them to show through. In order to build on the muscle you already have, you must exercise using mostly compound exercises. The abs are just like any other muscle and can easily be overtrained by trying to do 1,000's of sit-ups. This will only result in you having skinny thin abs which will not show. An excessive amount of cardio is not good for building abs either. You really want to stick to the weights if you want a decent pack. Also remeber that six pacs are also genetic. Everyone's abs look different so you may not be able to achieve a full pac however; sorting your diet out is the first step to success. ozz
I joined a gym recently and had a tour/fitness review from the manager. He seemed to think weights are useful but to reduce weight on your stomach the only sure fire way is to spend time on the crosstrainers (hill climb things), bikes and running machines. Couple that with a sensible diet and you should be sorted. Light weights will tone. Heavy weights (bodybuilding) unless you are ruthless on diet I'd have though would take a massive amount of effort to show the ab muscles. I used to have a superb 6 pack- how? Simple, dancing in clubs from 10pm to 4am Friday, Saturday, Sunday whilst drinking only water and maybe with a little assistance. I didn't have an ounce of fat on me! Would kill me now... At the end of the day its far easier not to have a 6 pack and more fun! Apparantly women are happy with a little bit around the waist on men but hate beards I have both /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_sad.gif

"ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN, NOT THE GYM" That's good to know, so I can eat whatever I want and not do any situps, and I'll have a six pack within 6 months? Thanks! Or is it more complicated than that?

supra steveo
you need to do loads of cardio but if you want to gain wieght then you are stumpped need to do excercise that keeps you in you THR (target heart rate)for longer to burn fats and no carbs after 5 pm at least thats what i was told
Stonkin
as far as i know, your six pack is pretty much related to diet. As said before you can do loads of stomach exercises, but if you eat crap, the fat will hide it. Lots of chicken salads Jazz
