So, I get this ever-so slightly threatening PM, right...

It's a play on words folks.

You would indeed say 'resent' under normal circumstances. I choose resmble as the comments were about bikers and golfers as I fall into both categories I chose 'resemble' as opposed to 'resent'. Also, I didn't really resent the remarks.:)

I think I first first heard it in a Python sketch (or maybe the goons or Spike Miligan) years and years ago. :)

PM's should stay PM's in my opinion............if you have a problem with them or perceive them to be threatening etc you should seek the advice of a moderator.

They can see the full picture and not just the one posted up in the public forum by the 'injured' party.

I completely agree. Why this has been brought out into the public off-topic forum i dont know. I thin what mr Ark was trying to say is that, yeah, long time members understand the bicker and tantrums you two have with each other, but, new members dont recognise it and dont see it the same way.

sorry but im with Mr Ark on this one 100%. And to publisize his Pm's is bang out of order!!!!!

Although I tend to agree that PMs shouldn't be published - if Mr Ark really thought that it might be confusing for new members (although I'm not sure why it would bother them that much) - did he not think a thread - which new members might see - would be more effective than a PM?

Nope - I couldn't care less either, I just thought my post count has been suffering lately so had to comment.

To be honest - I think that if new members are that bothered by it, they're fairly pathetic and should **** off somewhere else anyway.

But that's just me. Tolerant is not my middle name.

you could say the same about RedM though............him posting on the thread in question what he pm'd to Ark would have made more sense to me.......

If someone threatened me over the way I conduct myself on the site then I think I would.

What would you do then?

Come off it, it wasnt a threat at all, and what would i do???

I would PM the person back and certainly not publicise the matter, which we all know invites people that dont have a clue whats going on to comment.

"Don't have a clue"? I think everybody that's commented this thread is well aware of the RedM / JamesMark banter, which is surely the point?

IMHO on this forum there is a little group of "long time members" that all stick together through thick and thin no matter what and back each other up regardless of the situation and its quite annoying to some "outsiders" me not being one of them as im a lone ranger and dont let anything bother me in the slightest :):):):):):):):):)

I have been here a while and i was'nt aware of it.

Not entirely true, if nothing bothers you that much, why have you taken such a vivid interest in this thread and sticking your oar in (oar get it? oar).:innocent:

Er - an outsider like Ark who's been here over 3 years? Doesn't that kind of make him a long time member?

I didnt say it as a fact mate, i said it as my opinion, i hav'nt taken a vivid interest in this thread at all, i would just like to offer my opinion, nothing wrong with that is there??

Which is what i would do, creating a whole new thread is maybe taking it to the extreme a little....... i dont know, we all have a different opinion, so why challenge mine??

Aren't you challenging RedM's opinion when you question him starting the thread? People in glass houses and all that....

...but then it would have been waaaay off topic, dude!;)

I agree that PMs should be private and they always are.....

....except when someone comes across as the kind of sanctimonious twit that would still question what they are being told despite a lack of evidence to the contrary and then having the sheer, bloody nerve to imply continued abusive posts should the situation continue.

And for that here is the final and full PM from this numpty.

I was actually trying to be pleasant and clear the air, but if that's your attitude, you can shove it.

Welcome to my ignore list.

Since when has a barely disguised demand like ' If you cut it out (or at least cut it back), then I'll cut it out, and we can all be friends. Reasonable? Then let's say no more about it. ' ever been pleasant?

Anyways, The IT Crowd beckons......

IN MY OPINION......... Do you not understand that??? If it was me in the situation, i would'nt have started the thread, but fair does, RedM did, im not saying that was the "wrong" thing to do, im saying that its not what i would have done.

but that it just it, he didn't know even as a long standing member.................RedM knew it caused trouble with the mods becoming involved in the past............why not just post in the damn thread that seemed to upset Ark and then others would i'm sure have waded in as they have here and said yeah they're always at it ignore them etc etc........that way Ark and anyone else in the dark but not being vocal would have known?

but hey they know now so i'll shut up :)
