Jake
I'm getting a kind of squealing or grating noise when I turn the steering sometimes. It only seems to do it now and then. To start with it only happened when the engine was first started up but lately it has done it a few times when I've been turning out of a junction. I suppose you never turn the steering that far in normal driving. I've changed the drive belt but the noise is still there. While the old belt was off I manually span the pulleys and they all seemed to move freely except that the belt tensioning pulley made a bit of rough sound, like the bearing was dirty or dry. I can’t see how that could be causing this noise though, it certainly seems to be related to the power steering. The power steering fluid seems to be topped up OK. Is there anything I can do, like change the fluid or bleed the system? Or should I start looking for a new power steering pump?
Guest slow dog
i had the same story with clairs na (supra babe) checked the belt and the pulley pump bleed the system and it was still there a couple of weeks later the bottom crank pully sheared off since then it has been replaced and the noise has stoped so take the belt off and try and see if there is movement
Guest Usmann A
I normally just leave the cap off, fill the fluid in cold, and then start her up, and do a couple of full lock turns, and that should have bled the system. HTH

green_dragon
Mine did this a while back, and I was preparing for a huge bill for a new PS pump. The car went to Toyota for A/C re-gas, and while it was there, they drained and refilled the PS fluid. Been almost silent since. Probably just an air lock. Soonto_HAS_soop
24 hour special order from Halfords Which is how long it takes them to order one from the motor factors, that is usually 5 minutes down the road, and then phone you back . I should know, I used to work there, in the end I was telling them to go get them themselves....

TT-DEK
ANY special Fluid to use??
Prof. Monkey
lol thanks chaps , is it abig job to do ya self? Dan The job is easy, I changed my PAS pump recently. The belt comes off easily when you have loosened the tensioner, by putting a spanner on it and pulling it to loosen the belt (cant remember which way but, it is to the right on the AUTO from memory). Just make a note of how the belt feeds round. As to bleeding, very easy, just remember to jack the front of the car up. Fluid to use is Dextron III ATF fluid, about £7.00 a litre from halfrauds, depending on what you do, you might need a couple of bottles. With the job I did, I used a lot (circa 2 bottles). Let me know if I can be of assistance

The VVTi has just had the engine rebuilt and refitted (new pistons etc) and is running nicely but the ECU is reporting an error. Which error exactly I haven't found out yet. I'm taking the other one to france though. I've got to run the VVTi in for 500 miles
