miko_supra
i have vista, and i too found it to be very slow. Their's a couple of simple "how tos" on you tube to make it quicker (whether vista or not.) most of it is stopping useless start up programs that appear in the bottom right on the screen and simplifying the appearence (eg getting rid of fancy fade in fade out stuff on windows that you open.) Mine used to take about 3/4 mins to start up. now takes about 1 minute. hope this helps
TRD3000GT
I really like Vista! It was a bit slow when I had 1GB of RAM but when I upgraded to 2GB it made a huge difference. I've now got 4GB and it shuts down in seconds. which version of vista are you running.. Have a look at the in the SYSTEM area on control pannel at your ram.. Bet you it does not say 4GB of ram.... edd_t
to speed Vista up use an SD card as virtual memory for the desktop. cant remember wha the techy term is, but it will make stuff happen a hell of a lot faster. especially if you are using he glass effects. Bobbeh
Mines slowed down a bit recently too, when browsing, its deffo something to do with the adverts because the bulk of the page loads, and then it waits for a bit while the ads then load up, its like the virus checking/ad blocking software isnt working 100%... it was fine. Firefox works fine due to the adblock software with it.
madmunky
Vista needs a high'ish spec PC to run, ive been running it since the betas and its grate never have any problems with it or 1 crash since ive been running it and i use my computer a lot
Bobbeh
I agree, but my machine isnt a dog P4 3.2HT with 2G of RAM. I think it'll run a darn sight better on a dual core though. Theres probably loads of OS side components that have been written to work specifically with that technology in mind.
