Leeky
Been to yota today to get my camber geo checked on the supra and they couldnt free the camber bolts on the left hand rear wheel. Said that they will most likely have to cut them if i book it back in to get them free'd. Ok so i though to myself im looking at the cost of two camber bolts. Then they said they would actually cut the arms to get it out and that in the process they may even have to replace the frickin subframe They presented me with a quote for the MOST that the job would cost and its was... wait for it.... £2721.71!! (£1035.00 is labour alone) After i regained conciousness i ordered the camber bolts and nuts and set off with the intention of trying to remove the old bolts myself using a dremmel. Surely if you need to remove the bolts you just need to cut the bolts not half the car....
JustGav
Not being a heavy mech man, that just seems absolutely crazy.... Bit of WD40 should do it *grin*... In all honesty speak to slow dog or Graham S, as I'm sure someone could drill the bolt out and put a new one in or rethread it. But 2.7k?? sod that
Soonto_HAS_soop
I'm not sure of the location of these nuts, but if you can get a nut splitter onto them, then clean the thread up, it would certainly be a lot less than 2.7K!! Think of all the mods you could do with that! B..

Digsy
Tell them to buy a bigger bloody breaker bar. Talk about rediculous!
CJ
If you are adament (sp) about using a toyota dealership, try the Inchcape people in Oxford. I have found them to be ace and quite reasonable too.
Leeky
Dont get me wrong i hate dealers, especially Toyota ones. I just wanted a local place with the facilities to check the camber.
TLicense
Either that dealership doesn't know what it's talking about, OR the Supra has quite a major design flaw! Either way surely a shot in the foot for Toyota?
toyotasuprauk
£2721.71:eek: Do you think they might be trying to tell you they don't want the job! Based on the quote are they saying the parts they cut off cost £1686! Unbelievable
Leeky
New subframe is almost £800 alone Oh well, nothing that a bit of WD40 and a very long handled bolt breaker wont fix this weekend
LeeT
my front bolts were seized up and i just took an oxy acetylene torch to them to heat them up and they undone straight away. you would have to be very careful of the rubber bushes though. id get under there now and start squirting the wd40 today and every day up until you try to remove them to give them a good soaking. worst case though i would say was just cut the head of the bolt off and knock it through
Whitesupraboy2
ahh i had this problem myself!! after i spun and knocked wheel out the camber couldnt be changed as bloke said bolt couldnt be undun I spent first hour working with WD40 and pulling back and forth on the nut to try and work loose, next.... neighbour having a go with me helping and using some other lubricant he had ......no good still finally got a heat gun and heated nut trying not to damage rubber or catch it on fire. and it finally worked after a hour of heating and then trying to undo and tighten to work loose. It took in total 4 hours to work loose and alot of effort i was nackered! but worth it now i know potential costy... just realised same as leett
Scarface GTti
Give yourself a better chance and use PlusGas instead of WD40. Its alot better and more likely to free it off. You could also chisel the nut off.
looneytune
id soak it in wd40 or similar and get a decent impact wrench on it, ive not found a bolt yet that cant be moved by my trusty impact wrench, it'll either come undone or it'll rip the head off the bolt! either way it'll do the job and quickly!! paulrenn
neighbour having a go with me helping and using some other lubricant he had ......no good still Hate to think what that was...you don't live next door to Oxy do you? - sorry, obvious and bad joke
JayDub
Would you not be better off grinding either the nut or the bolt head off & trying to drift them out - can you get a good swing with a club hammer? (Don't seem to have one in my golf bag though! - otherwise I'd lend it to you)
