Guest Damien89
Whats the stock revlimit for a stock 2jz? And at what revs is it good to shift? Right at the revlimit or a little before?
jevansio
I normally shift when it "feels" right (not very helpfull I know ), IIRC this was below the redline when I was on stock twins, around 6500 to 6700. Obviously we're talking about when you're ringing it's neck here
Homer
Stock rev limit is 6800rpm on the TT's (not sure about NA's). The stock rev counter is very innacurate though so should not be used as a guide to the "real" rpm; it'll read anything from 7200 to 7500 rpm at the limit. When mine was BPU I uised to shifd at arounf 6600 rpm, so around 6200 real rpm. Obviously it depends on gear, lower gear means a later shift, higher gears you should shift sooner
Kopite
Think the VVTI has a slightly higher limit of 7200, not entirely sure on that figure though...

Yeah, i'll go with that (7100/7200) unless its out. Found out this morning Stock rev limit is 6800rpm on the TT's (not sure about NA's). MattP
VVTI Autos only allow 6-6600rpm or so if you rev the car when stationary IE:not moving However when in gear and driving VVTI should hit 7200rpm
Guest BUZ
So what would explain this 6600rpm limit I'm seeing? This is with the scanner! Guest BUZ
Yeah so my Neutral safety switch may be buggered? Donno, cos my engine starts just fine but wont start in P, 6600rpm im seeing in gear though! MattP, has anyone done a paddle shift mod yet? I've got a 30-40LS box too, just wondering is all. I should also add this 2J is from a JZS161 and currently resides in a E36. Edited June 17, 2015 by BUZ (see edit history)
