Hyundai Tucson ?

They come with a 5 year warranty which is quite good. Thank's Ian for the link, it seems to be a balanced middle of the road result for the car - not sure if that's good or bad !

Just wondering if we have anyone with any personal experience on these Tucson's or Hyundai themselves.

I've got a Getz 1.3. I bought it off a mate who worked at a dealership as my 306 had blown up. It was a showroom car and they needed it gone as it was a pre-reg and I bought it at cost (about 65% market value).

This things build quality gives my Supra a run for it's money, it is rock solid, and I really abuse it. I picked it up with 12 miles on the clock (10 of those were our testdrives) and it now has 21,000 miles, 21 very hard thousand miles at that. I've had it flat out in top for 25 miles every night for 18 months, then I changed my route home to B-roads and really give it a work out. So far it's cost me a pair of front tyres (at £15 each). Servicing is pricey imo, A-is £95, B- £295 and I think a cambelt is £495, and I believe parts are as expensive as any other Oriental manufactorer but I couldn't tell you as I haven't needed any.

Our company was trialling a Tuscon as a company car for team leaders so we took it for a couple spins and had a good poke around it.. It's not a bad car.. and I'm sure its good value for money.. but with the auto 2.0l engine I found it is quite gutless and it sounds like it too, especially trying to accelerate up any form of hill with 3 or 4 passengers.

Mechanically they are built well but I found the quality of some of the fittings quite poor, after opening the lift back window I knocked the rubber window seal and it started to lift.. seems like it was glued on with chewing gum.. The ruber would just lift out of the frame using my pinkie finger, also several other rubber/plastic fittings would easily come loose or pop out with not much effort.

The other car up for choice was the Toyota RAV4 which we went with nation wide... although it does cost a fair bit more I'd take one for test drive if you can, you might find its worth the extra money.

Thanks for the replies ... ok so seems the build quality may be good on the whole so I think I need to have a poke around at one and take a test drive.

I had considered the RAV4 as it's made by that company ... ah yes, Toyota, :) but the Mrs is smitten with the Tucson
