Autobox cooler and Trans cooler, two different things yeh?

Sorry im not remotely technical at all:(

They're the same thing Jamie. As mentioned on the phone, you'll need as much cooling you can get on the stock auto box.

I'm not clued up on trans coolers at all, but would have thought a first step would be to replace the stock one with a beefed up one. Suggestions anyone?

I know k14 sup was doing some fluidyne 9 row coolers thay were fairly good and great value, they might be worth looking at too. Also probably a little spal fan to help the flow of air.

Or you can even use a mocul cooler which you can get from Thinkauto

Link not working. What kind of torque are you looking to put through the standard autobox?

I said 2 minimum and that would be 2 the size of what K14 SUP was supplying in his group buy. Personally, I have 2 of those mounted flat underneath my rad / FMIC in the middle, and a slightly smaller Fluidyne with SPAL puller fan in the nearside bumper opening under the headlight.

I'm only BPU+ powerwise but running a BL trans (theoretically keeps temps lower with it's more sudden change action) and a PI 4,000 stall torque converter (this generates a lot of heat in the trans). Are you running / going to be running a high stall? It's a good idea for driveability with a single on an auto.

Ultimately you WILL kill the stock Toyota trans with all the extra torque going through it. You should be budgeting for a trans upgrade - BL or similar.

p.s. I know a thing or two about killing Supra TT auto transmissions :taped:

Cheers,

Brian.

Sorry Brian, its the link out of "Transmission Coolers " by DamanC.

I will be looking to upgrade my Autobox to either a BL auto or a 6Speed,not sure which as i quite like the autobox now:) High stall soon as well...

As to what torque will be running throught it i dont know but wont be much yet...

i run a BL box and hi-stall, you will need a minimum of 2 well ducted fluidyne type coolers and you will also need a fan on at least one of them or you will fry the box once you get stuck in traffic, oh and a temp gauge would be good as well, do a search there is quite alot of stuff on this
