Surprised you can hear it mate, I suspected a crack in mine under load, but as soon as the wastegate opens and the screamer wakes up - you got no chance of hearing anything :D

Hahahah well i can... and investigating it its at least 2 to 3 inches long...

And it is causing performance issues and a missfire... so it needs sorting....

Rob, Yes it is..

Dean,

Thanks mate....

As I said on the phone, no point in trying to weld contaminated stainless. Cast iron will give you the best reliability, but I have a pattern paid for and lodged with one of the 2 top UK exhaust manifold makers, ready for an Inconel one to be made. Will be expensive though!

HKS ones crack, Greddy ones crack, XS ones crack, none come with ANY form of tuebo or wastegate support, they habng the exhaust front section off them, unsupported, they are too thin, blah blah.

Cast iron ones CAN crack, but they are much more durable, hence their usage on 99% of turbo engines by the car makers.

I'd get the same again...you don't know what has happened before you owned the car.

If you get the same manifold you don't have to pee about changing downpipes, wastegates etc etc....

You'll get another 3 years at least out of it and by then the pain of the cost will have subsided.

If you do want to change to one off the shelf, I've not seen a BL one crack yet. (Beefed up GReddy Mani)

I read the BL one is strengthened and also made of better grade steel, thats why I went with a BL manifold/mid/downpipe with my PHR kit. It still doesn't have a bracket to support the weight of the turbo/wastegate though but I'm hoping to avoid the cracking for as long as possible.

I used to work with Inconel 12mm tubing on furnace analyser systems. Very hard durable stuff, used to go through a few saw blades with the tubing LOL.

Arnouts cast iron manifolds are worth a look. T4 flange, and HKS 50mm wastegate flange.

Mig on here had a couple for sale a while back, not sure if he is still about so it may be worth sending Matt Harwood a PM to see if he is still in contact with him.
