Jspec Germany
Ewe.. that sounds bad. I wouldn't drive it until you find out what's wrong. Someone with experience in this area may be along. Black smoke though... Sounds like motor is not happy. Have you tried resetting the ECU?
Bob
Black smoke would indicate overfuelling, iirc. If you drive it in those conditions you may be getting borewash, which is not good at all! Check your oil - if it stinks of petrol, you have problems! Are there any aftermarket gadgets wired into the system, such as fuel managers, piggybacks, etc.? Best place to check would be the passenger footwell - lift up the carpet and remove the plastic cover and you'll find the ECU. chances are, if anything has been bodge-wired in, it'll be there. :edit: You'll probably want new oxygen sensors - check with a few traders on here, I know Whifbitz and Import Pimp can supply them, and iirc Chris Wilson can supply generic ones (need wiring in to the old plug)
neil tt
Did you have to shout so loud for a first post and by the way
Ian C
Sounds like the MAF is reading atmospheric to me, dodgy O2 sensors wouldn't cause such severe overfuelling. Either a broken MAF sensor, or a serious air-hose-fallen-off moment. Cold start might mask it a bit for the first 20 minutes? It needs looking at by someone who knows what they are doing, and a look around the footwell for piggyback units and other modifications is a good idea as well. -Ian
Bob
Sorry, meant to say that new oxygen sensors would be a good idea, as the old ones are probably a bit shitty due to the overfuelling
GLENN STONEHAM
John, just read the above posts & wondered if you sorted the problem out. I"ve got bad overfuelling probs at the moment & trying to locate the fault. Where is the MAF sensor on an n/a mentioned by Ian above? Glenn.
