Jspec Germany
What type of metal Chris? Steel? What would titanium cost? Would they be light like the ceramic, yet strong like the steel? Just curious what something like that would cost if I were to send you just the turbos.
Keith C
I go to Berlin for a few days and what do I find upon my return Well I never.....I bought the car off a Toyota Dealership in early 2002 and it was bone stock, not even an air freshener. The car was originally sold at this dealership and had been maintained all it's life 81K miles their also. Isn't yours an Octagon UJH like mine? What year is yours? I don't suppose there's any way of checking shorting of pulling the lot apart...

Sharpie
Could the turbos have been replaced/recon'd after the accident? No, I have multi-invoices from Mr T of this event. What they claimed on their insurance What they paid for in addition to the above What I asked them to carry out in addition to the above It totals well over £20k and that's with the HUGE discount they get for trade prices on their own parts
Keith C
Well, should mine ever come off the car for whatever reason I'll be sure to check, but I can't say if/when that might be. I know that someone else here had an Octagon UJH - I had an M, you have an N(?) and someone had a P, just trying to remember who had that.
Sharpie
Yes, I had the N and was it not NICKBOY who had a red one too ? who then sold it to Francis in 2005 ??? Search is not showing anything for UJH

TLicense
What type of metal Chris? Steel? What would titanium cost? Would they be light like the ceramic, yet strong like the steel? Just curious what something like that would cost if I were to send you just the turbos. Ti isn't as strong as steel. It's a halfway house between aluminium alloy and steel. The good thing about ti is that it generally has a high ultimate tensile strength for its weight. Basically it'll bend but it won't break.
Pete
Basically it'll bend but it won't break. That's quite a good thing I guess rather than having pieces of shattered steel finding their way around the engine?
JohnA
But how likely is it that these bits will find their way into the engine? They are all after the exh valves. The compressors (likely to have bits ingested) are all aluminum alloys anyway, aren't they
Jspec Germany
So what about a hybrid made of high strength space shuttle shingle stuff on the hot side, and super-light magnesium-titanium alloy on the other side.... how fast would that spool given similar dimensions? *waits for some 5-kilogram brain engineer type to skoff at me*
