Steve W
Has ANYONE got a mkIV with the speedo STILL calibrated to 180KPH. Either with 'stickers' for MPH, or, with proper face marked 0-112MPH ? ie. NOT 'speedo-converted' but just re-faced/numbered. Would the speedo 'break' if it's MAX' is 112 and it was driven regularly over that ie. topped out often ? ? Alex
Mine was like that when I got the car it regularly took trips all the way round to 0!!! But I never took it past 0...
dil
mine also has the original face nad has made reguler trips to the max, but i still have the limiter on mine, so dont know the effects of taking it off, and having the needle trying to swing round futher than it should cheers

Rob
Theres's a little peg by the zero, that the needle rests against. You might hit this if you take it all the way round.

Which is why I never went past it....I got close to but never hit the little peg.
Steve W
What would you 'guess' (judge? ) the peg to be roughly ? 130, 140, 150 ? ? ? ie. are you artificially restricted by it ? [ is the rest of the 'unmarked' face the same RATIO do you think ie. could you extend the markings 'a bit' ]
Alex
140 ish and Yes its goes up at the same rate of knots...errr MPH I mean! If I'd had the powermeter before fixing the speed signal I could have been able to tell more accuarately.
Bradb
There's nothing more thrilling than 400bhp rattling through a chassis - Mycroft.
THOR Racing
Would the speedo 'break' if it's MAX' is 112 and it was driven Personally I would correct the speedo as I don't think that the delicate mechanism would like to be hammered into the pin too many times. You may dislodge it and affect your low speed accuracy. Also I do not know how inaccurate the dial becomes beyond it's maximum calibrated maximum. I'm going to be doing some replacement dial faces soon (nothing fancy just MPH versions but in any colour and with any logos you want) Pete
Steve W
Probably will Pete, May be interested in dial faces, and also, one of your LUVERLY convertors/delimiters( ? it does delimit JAP limiter ? ). WOULD have gone for those 'Indiglo's but bit WIREY-UPPY (even MORE wires on/behind dash - bit much already ) How hard is it to self-fit your 'box-of-tricks' - I've wired spotlights/ speakers etc. but NOT an elecy'/mech' by a long shot ! ie. I can use pliers/screwdriver but NOT too keen on finding 'output volts' etc. ? ? ? Thanks, Steve. {ps. Would it be 'safer' for YOU to fit ? Do you ? How much ? Where ? etc. etc. }
THOR Racing
it does delimit JAP limiter ? Yes. It's been used on MkIV Supras, UK and Import, MkIII Supras Import 2.0 and 2.5TT's and also developing changes for the Mazda RX7. It's pretty much universal. How hard is it to self-fit your 'box-of-tricks' See http://www.trlperformance.com/dsc.html and download the dsc.exe file which gives pictures of the installation. It's basically 6 wires to cut and splice. So it would be better if you could use a soldering iron. It isn't difficult so long as you understand the diagrams on the web site. {ps. Would it be 'safer' for YOU to fit ? Do you ? How much ? Where ? etc. etc. } You'd be hard pushed to kill the converter or the car electrics, they are pretty robust. I do fit but try to spend my time designing other stuff. I offer plenty of help via telephone (as countless will tell you) If you really want me to fit it then email me at [email protected] , I'm in Kenilworth, Warwickshire (enter CV8 2GL into streetmap.co.uk or multimap/autoroute etc etc) Regards Pete

THOR Racing
Oh yeah :-) good point 156MPH isn't enough for some people is it :-( I think I was getting confused with the VFCC (fuel cut) I have done speed converter specials for Aus' where they'd changed the rear differential and thus the gearing and speedo calibration. One was -15% and the other -8% offset required.
