Chris Wilson
And the (sort of) triumph of development over design continues... They KNOW an engine shouldn't hang outside the wheelbase, they have shown they can build a sensible layout, but still they foist these things on a gullible public

Chris Wilson
Chris have you ever driven a 911? Yes, young and old, air and water cooled, N/A and turbo, road and race spec ones. They can be made to go very well, but so could a bedstead, with enough time and money thrown at it I am biased though, I can't get my head around a car of this price with a major and basic design flaw! Ian C
I do believe a certain Lotus engineer around here has to cough "theenginesinthewrongplace" every time they are mentioned as well

Granted. How do they get the thing to stick so well coming out of corners? Although when they bite, they bite back hard. Wish they would stick the GT2 engine in a Cayman, seems they have the right idea about that car.
Tom
I've never had the desire to own a porsche, never liked the look of them or the sound only supercar i'd have is a 355 or a lambo.

Wish they would stick the GT2 engine in a Cayman, seems they have the right idea about that car. As I said, a triumph of years of development taming what is basically a far from ideal set up. Modern CAD suspension set ups can introduce passive rear wheel steer and similarly years of development have allowed Porsche to develop front and rear roll centres that move in a sympathetic way to help things. Quite why they don't develop the Cayman more I don't know. I won't go on about the lousy offset driving position, the ergonomically iffy floor hinged pedals and the dire ventilation and heating in the early cars, where a Ford Escort showed them the way on three counts for years and years At least the swing axles have gone, and the things seem to hold their value quite well these days. I'm sure if I had driven a GT2, GT3 etc I would say otherwise, but I'm with you - if I had the money it would be something like a ferrari, lambo etc.
Gazboy
It's still fookin fast though Chris, Sport Auto timed it at 7.29 for the N'ring. They also seem to be the endurance racers favourite too.
Chris Wilson
The only Supercar to have is someone elses for the weekend, or if you MUST burn money, hire one until you get it out of your system, and let some other poor sap handle the running costs, depreciation and the good chance it will be modified by some temporally challenged scrote as soon as you park it up
tbourner
I've loved every incarnation of GT2, never understood why everyone keeps banging on about the GT3 for (which is pants IMO). I'd still have an F430 over it though, and I'd probably end up getting a few years old Diablo if I actually had that kind of money.
