jim_supra
I used to have one a few years back called Waylon, and it liked to bite! The thing to remember is you WILL get bitten. The best way to train them not to bite anymore, is to spray a bitter tasting spray on your hands and feet. when they then try to bite you (and they will) they will not like the taste and eventually stop. I can't remember what we used now.

Sorry for the thread hijack. There are plenty of websites about keeping certain pets though, just do a google search ' my little twat of a ferret keeps biti9ng me, how to stop it??' Chris Wilson
Lots of people round here keep them, either for fun, or for commercial rabbiting, most have some minor wound in the process of healing. They aren't exactly going to have your hand off, but if it really bugs you, try: http://www.petplace.com/small-mammals/how-to-keep-your-ferret-from-biting/page1.aspx In my limited experience with them constant handling from a very young age helps, as it overcomes any fear they have, but i have been told contsant handling stops them being good rabbit hunters. Now if you were having trouble with a pet mink, that WOULD be a painful bite

garethr
Remember the late great Richard Whiteley, the late great Brian Plummer, and the ferret? EDIT: P.S. It doesn't mean ferrets always bite. Plummer had been asked to bring examples of the different colours. He didn't have a white ferret, so he borrowed one. Unfortunately, it hadn't been handled very much......
bmx1lew
ferrets love peppers
Soop Dogg
What Chris said is how I've always been told to avoid this - handle it - a lot. (The ferret that is...) And preferrably from a young age.

cheekymonkey
I used to have a couple of ferrets. Sure they are funny buggers to look at and play with but they used to wreck the carpet and the underneath of the sofa, they'd burrow up and get into the upholstery and well, ferret around! Plus the smell, and the fact they'd sit in the (large) cage all night making noise wanting to come out and play... now they live with my ex and I'm quite happy about that! A robo-ferret with an off button and no stink would be cool though!
SupraGirlie
We used to keep ferrets, none of them bit us, were very friendly in fact, I think males are slightly more friendly
