SimonB
I'm thinking of rebuilding my old spare engine myself, should keep me occupied in the evenings... Anyway, if I do I'll need somewhere to do the machine work - acid cleaning, boring, honing, that kind of thing. Maybe porting/polishing etc the head too. So I'm after recomendations for machine shops to do it - there's a few threads about but I've yet to see one that actually names names! Hey, he could get the block honed with it hot then! Interesting company, do you actually forge pistons in house, and make rings in house, like Omega, or sub contract? Chris Wilson
Just a couple more questions, sorry. How much, roughly, to re Nikasil a Cossie BDG block, and why do so many Nikasil jobs fail with the plating peeling off, especially in the 2 stroke arena? SimonB
Anyone else got any recommendations, for head work for example?
Ibrar Jabbar
I used http://www.cylinderheadshop.co.uk/ for all my head work last year.
Chris Wilson
My head man is superb, but VERY slow. He's always done excellent work, but a week = a month, at least. You also get what you pay for. The inlets on the 2JZ-GTE are very good out of the box, the exhausts show good gains from careful working. he's done one 2JZ head for me, the engine's in Sweden, making excellent power and torque from sensible boost levels. I'd like to do more, but the price frightens a lot of people
