Sick of having to ring 0870/0871 etc numbers.

I'm sure this isn't a good idea. If you remove the IDA (in-direct access) code then you will be routed to where the number sits right now. This is bad for 2 reasons:

 

1) The number could be moved without warning to the public, in which case you have a dead number. This means that You'll have to resolve the number again. This happens a lot with services such as CPS (carrier pre-select).

 

2) The number may actually be routing cheaper than if CPS or IDA was used. It might route to India or Spain or something and the UK number makes it cheaper.

 

Also, I think this could be illegal for some reason but can't back that up right now as I've not got the time to read up.
